New Haunts

02 Apr 2008 19:02

I have posted before that I have only been to Icmeler once. I can see from the forum that we missed out on loads. Can you imagine we never walked down the canal.....how I'll never know.....just didn't. Has anyone any good advice on new places for us to try?

hi
after reading lots on this forum, there are plenty of places we have never come across that have been mentioned, so your not on your own. We have been going for 5 years!

Hi Mazz

I'm like you been going for years and have still not seen everything.
You know we never had a meal in the old village  walked around it a few times during the day and had a beer but we have never made it at night. Maybe next time we will.

Last year ventured down to the Old Village and had a lovely meal at Captain Sinbads which is near the Mosque. The owner was really struggling to make a profit and it's such a shame as we had a great time there but it was very quiet. Maybe he won't be there this year. Let's hope the old town gets busier.

We are exactly the same. Have been 16th times and I've never ventured to the left of the canal passed the Hotel Marti - how terrible is that  Must make an effort to do that this year and go to the Cafe Del Mar, which a lot of people on here have recommended. We haven't even been much to the old village or indeed eaten a meal there - again we must try and go this time.

I think the problem is, is that you meet so many friends that even two weeks isn't enough to get round them all, never mind try new places

03 Apr 2008 15:44

Last year I was very proud of us as we ate in loads of new places, and have more to try this year :D

Plus I always thought the old village was only by the market bit, till last year and I was showed all the other bit on the flat land

Colette,we will look for places in old village that are not too far for Ma & Pa to walk when we are there in June.

Diane :D

I only discovered last year how big the old village is. One thing I've never done is have a Turkish bath, but maybe this year.

03 Apr 2008 18:24

yeah in may we mainly went to the same places but then when I went in october and stayed for a month I made myself try lots of different places to eat and I did, yet I still can say there are is sooo many places I have still to try. Maybe I can try a few new ones this time eh

Molly you have to have one, but do it at the start of your holidays helps with the sun tan

03 Apr 2008 18:55

Hi Lynn, I heard it helps you get a better tan, was also told not to go at the end of the holiday as you'd end up pale again.

03 Apr 2008 19:11

we heard that too about helping get a better tan. Dont know that it worked as such, but I sure had a new layer of skin afterwards!

03 Apr 2008 21:16

The only problem I have with having one at the end of hols is I burn and it can be a bit painful if you have sunburn, as the loofer is a bit rough.
I dont think it takes your tan away if your like me it takes away all the peeling skin

Turkish baths have changed a lot nowaday.
I found my first one a bit embarassing  after the bath I had a massage and I was in a dark room with a man who smelt like an old cigarette and he only had a tea towel wrapped round him
That was a few years ago.

They only ever wear "an old teatowel" - when I had my first turkish bath, and massage, you could say he may have been pleased to see me

Its wonderfully relaxing, so you must try it

03 Apr 2008 22:27

oh no JB, I'd have died with embarrassment !

When my youngest daughter and I had one last year in Icmeler. we had a lady.....am thinking that was perhaps more out of consideration for the wee one? It was lovely

If you want a good night go to the CHEF restuarant for a meal then go to the DIVA bar next door. That bar is absolutely brilliant. If you go to the DIVA tell OSSY that Grumpy sent you
