HALFWAY stop off

Pro's and con's would be nice

We stopped off half way when we went last year, but we never booked our transfers with icr (not sure how they work it ).

We were in a minibus, with just one other couple. The driver stopped at a cafe, there was a couple of othere mini busses and a coach. There was no hassle to buy anything, and there were public toilets anyone could use.

I myself would prefer just one long drive with no breaks. I just want to get to Icmeler. Although having children with us they did need a toilet break, we also got drinks and ice-cream from the cafe, wich was great as it vas really hot and we needed somthing cool.

The coaches always stop, icr transfers (taxi/minibus ) dont usually stop unless you ask to, they like to get to and from the airport as quickly as possible.
Prices for most things are dearer than in resort ( just like our motorway cafes) . The toilets usually have an attendant sat in the doorway, its not compulsory to tip them but if you do they give you a squirt of lemon oil on your hands.
If we are on a coach transfer we look forward to the stop and our first glass of ice cold efes and you soon get in the holiday mood and you know it,ll not be long before you reach paradise.

Last year we stopped off at a really big place, it had everything jewellery shop, restraunt, bar, shop. But very expensive, however went back again towards the end of september and gave us a very good deal on a watch, think they were trying to get rid of some of the stock.

On my last trip I paid for a private transfer which was fab - the driver even stopped off at a supermarket, ran in and bought us all a cold bottle of water! Wounldn't take any money bless him.

Sorry, misleading information!!!. There are no such health and safety rules, if there was I would know.

The coaches stop over because the T/O 's who operate the transfers have comission based deals with the cafe's and shops, for some deals as much as £40K per year. The shops and cafe's pay this money to the agency. That is the sole reason for them stopping.

We get offers as well which gets turned down each year. Icmeleronline is known for offering services in a speedy manner. This goes with transfers as well.

There are more ways to make money from a tourist. (after reading this, you will understand why we dont call our guests "tourists" and we call them our guests, friends, members etc. It makes the whole difference here...

We do not accept comissions from hospitals either which is very common. We do not believe to make money from our guest's unhealthy state. Just not right morally. your insurance pays for things so who cares?? we do, next thing you know, your insurance premiums will rise in general and it will cost all our guests more money to come out for their holiday.

We do not collect comissions from leather shops, carpet shops nor from jewellery shops, restaurants etc. Some call us stupid for this, I say, how can we make money for some product we can not stand behind of. something goes wrong with the ring you buy, stone falls off or something or you find that the carpet you got is worth so much less than what you paid for or got sick after eating at a certain place etc etc...so... NO! but, we will recommend to the best of our knowledge and we must do so due to nature of our job but I call us, proper travel agents who are simply and JUST dedicated to provide excellent hospitality service, making sure everything runs smoothly, promptly in dignity and high quality from the start of our guest's holiday to the end. Call us stupid:) But no one can tell me that busses stop in between a 55 minute ride for health and safety reasons

Being an agent is different to being a comissioner, what is the difference, = ICR - thank god so much that i can say this (on behalf of everyone involved ofcourse) thank god that it aint all about money sometimes and last but not least, thank god, there are people like us left out there and people like you who appriciate it.

Note: ICR driver's will stop if you ask them to or if they need to refuel. AND water is served complimentary in all vehicles.

Well i always had my suspicions about the "health & safety" reason given by the reps on these coach transfers(!!!)

I'm glad you've posted that Rami - it just goes to show you can't beat the level of service offered by companies like ICR...

It's so lovely to land at Dalaman and know as soon as you've collected your luggage and you've located your transfer driver it'll only take you about an hour and 20 minutes to get to Icmeler! No messing!

confused there womble? How long did you think the journey from Dalaman to Icmeler is?

It has been known to take 4 hours from Dalaman with the bigger companies as you are waiting for people who are wandering around the airport sightseeing, smoking, buying booze and generally getting lost.

Then you have a large coach that doesn't go that fast and then a stop off for a while so they can get their back hander from the shops.

They then may go through all the back streets of Marmaris dropping people off at different hotels and aparts and with a driver who sometimes hasn't got a clue where they are.

You will then eventually get to Icmeler and to your own accommodations knackered.

Our transfers take on average 1.5 hours from the airport and as they are small they aren't waiting for lots of people so get you on the way quicker.

I have seen people write on other forums about other agencies sending a minibus out just for 2 people and they enjoyed their transfer, well that is not because these agencies are doing a "proper private transfer" it is just because they are not as busy as our own and are just bringing in a few people a day so it looks like they are providing something else.

Our transfer min buses are equipped with a fridge with free drinks and also a DVD is on the bus for your enjoyment in case you don't want to be looking out of the window.

The driver is told to bring the guests straight to the resort without stopping but sometimes the guests may need a rest stop and even the driver needs a toilet now and then.

I hope that this has now brought you up to date with the transfer system into the resorts from Dalaman airport and this will also apply from other airports that we use in Turkish resorts i.e Bodrum, Izmir and Antalya

People can now go faster along the road but this has been duly noted by the police who wait to give you speeding tickest

Womble got confused because I said a 55 minute ride in my post. It is a 55 minute ride between Marmaris and Dalaman if you went the average speed of 100km/hr - the distance between marmaris and dalaman is 90km. our average is about 1hr and 30 mins. This is because of the traffic into Marmaris and from marmaris to icmeler may be busy in the season.
