Hello im new and in need of abit of help

Hiya eveyone im kirsty and im new to all this, im in need of some help.
im flying to icmeler on 5th of may for two weeks, so firstly what are the prices like, i.e meals, trips, also im intrested in goin the quad biking trip too, the reason why i am asking is because we both dnt have a clue how much to take with us, never been away on our own before, how much would you all sujest, ill give u abit of info on what we like first lol.
we are young couple 19 & 24,we want a hoilday more for having fun rather then drinking, so trips sightseeing etc, we are keen to shop around market etc we dont realy go daft on spending so id say we are quite good at controling what we spend so what would anyone sujest spending money? my other question was the hotel, we are staying in the alvaro has anyone sayed here before any views, what appliances are available in appartments as been told there isnt alot. and lastley i understand you can hire bikes and that to get around is this correct if so how much are there and were do you leave them while your shopping, sorry if these questions have been asked before

Plenty of sightseeing available and average prices for these are approximately 15 GBP each...for more on these you can always check out our excursions page http://www.icmeleronline.com/icmeler_excursions.php page. You may be able to find cheaper deals around for excursions so dont give in to the first offer you receive. As an alternative, you are welcome to visit our office which is not far from your hotel and discuss further about your plans with Debbie or Sharon. (you can reach these lovely women on this forum as well, I am sure they will pop in to say hi soon)

As for hiring a bike, yes these are available and it would not cost you anything more than 10 quid for the day.
About leaving bikes when you are shopping, just lock it up to anything you feel is ok...just use your common sense but if you are talking about grocery shopping, then there are bike racks near Tansas which is basically the only super midi market in icmeler.

Prices of food, I should let John answer this for you since he has been to every restaurant in town and has a great memory of prices and all but as far as I can remember the prices do not exceed 10 quid each for evening meals and about another 10 for drinks and snacks during the day if you wish. Breakfast is usually free at the restaurant you had your dinner at. (funny ha?, we all think so too:) - (Note for fellow members: Please correct me about prices, if I am wrong)

The apartment you will be staying is fine. You will have the basic appliances like kettle, toaster, cooking ring, fridge and kitchen cutlery. (agencies actually sell these apartments without letting travellers know what is involved in their booked property?)

The last few years when we have gone (2 Adults, 2 Children 15,11) we have budgeted for a £100 per day plus I take £200 surplus for the two weeks.

The money covers Breakfast, lunch, evening meal, drinks, ice creams, at least 2 trips, visit to waterpark, visit to the Jewellers (The surplus is normally used here once we know how we are doing in the second week). When on holiday we don't skimp and I am quite a big drinker.

This year if the exchange rate stays at it's current level I will be budgeting for another £300 just in case which is roughly another 20% on the daily budget.

In 2003 when the lira was at the same level we saved money by buying the wonderful fresh bread each morning and different fillings for lunch and eating in the apartment, by doing so we saved the money from the restaurant and we were still on budget. I still keep the fridge stocked with drinks so we can have that lovely cold drink on the balcony at dusk while the kids get ready (Anyone else with a 15 year old daugter who takes an hour in the bathroom)

Hi g2fas, Welcome to the forum, I am fairly new too. I think in Icmeler you can eat quite cheapley now, alot of the restaurants do set specials. For example a main course, pud and glass of wine for a set price. Most restaurants give you freebies like pitta/naan bread to start with and a coffee when you get the bill. You can pick up a cooked breakfast for £1 or free as Rami said in his reply. The main thing is to shop around and don't feel embarrassed about saying NO to the touts that try and persuade you to eat in their restaurant. On our first vist in 1988 we had a massive 3 course meal with drinks and it came to £4 for both or us.

I agree with Dave.

5 years ago when my 3 kids always came with us to Turkey (all older now and arrive in dribs and drabs) We worked on £100 a day for everything and for the first week I used to worry that we seemed to be spending too much and we may not have enough for the second week.

It always seemed to level out on the second week and we always had extra money left over for the gold shop.

Do as Dave says and go get some drinks for the fridge and some fresh bread and dips or tomatoes and some cheese and thats lunch sorted.

Maybe you don't get up till late and if so your breakfast is really lunch.

A few days out on trips and as lunch is provided thats a great day and money saved.

The all inclusive boat trip we do is a really enjoyable day and includes all your drinks and lunch so saving again.

Thank you for all your replys, its sounds cheap however there awhile back so maybe there not as cheap these days lol, 100pound a day is not to bad however i dont think we would require that much as we dont spend that much here and ill like to shop lol has anyone experianced quad biking and how much is this if i was to book while i was there. i will certainly keep you posted when i get back but it awahile away yet.
what would the wether be like in may and am i better taking a varity of clothes ie jeans shorts etc

Hi we have been to he Alvaro now for the last 5 years nice clean basic appartments very good location for everything and best of all they make you feel like one of the family.You will have a great time.We are going back again inJuly for 2 weeks.

I usually budget around £50 a day and thats for meals, drinks and a couple of souveniers to buy. I always take and an entra £100 or so to buy gold. I always end up bringing some money home.

Hi Kirstie,
I have been to icmeler 4 times and going again this year. The bug will get you.
Cant add much but just to say that when you go shopping at the market or even in the shops (not supermarkets) dont forget to haggle as usually they will tell you want they want not what they will sell it for. If they wont budge just walk away, they normally come after you and a deal can be struck. If you are buying more than one of anything then do the same again. Trust me you can get some good deals.
As for cost there are some good meals to be had at a reasonable price - some restaurants will do a speacial of the day which is a 3 course meal for about £10. Also if you pay with sterling you often get more for your money.
Also if you dont want to take it all in case you spend it there are plenty of cash machines around - find the main square and they are fine to use.
My brother has been to the Alvaro and he said that it was a nice place to stay
