dolmus question

16 Aug 2007 15:51

Having been to turkey many times, I kinda feel ashamed to ask this.......

How do you tell the dolmus to stop???

In Bodrum and Gumbet, they all say "Dur Lutfen" which is simply translated as stop please..... but..............

When I have been on one in marmaris it sounds like peole say "side beer" but my hearing is awful.

so can someone please tell me how to say it properly!

Thanks
K

To get off a dolmus say " inecek var " , which means " someone to get off here " , and the driver will stop .

lol no problem ...... " inecek var " , pronounced " in-eh-jek-var "

its not unusual for people to get it slightly wrong and say " inek var " which means " There is a cow " .

Dur Lutfen, side beer, inecek var... do they are say the same thing just in different ways? Is this the same as our local language - recognisd in different places - or are all 3 said everywhere?

haha, there is a cow......wanting to get offffff!! haha, knowing me I would probably say that! haha

Thank you for your help, just always think its nice to use some turkish because the turks have made a major effort to speak english, so i always feel we should be doing the same when visiting.
