First time to icmeler!!

31 Jul 2007 17:15

Hi all, Have just joined the ICR forum today, having read many of your funny informative and helpful posts.
I am going to icmeler on 20th august for 1 week with my other half. My friend is getting married to a native Icmelerite. We have been asked to be witnesses to the wedding, and are both excited as it will be our first time to icmeler (my first time to turkey!!).
I would appreciate your help with a few questions.

1. I have a disability that affects my ability to walk. We are planning to stay at the BELLA MARE. Is it a good idea to book b'n'b or to book half board?

2. If we book b and b are there some good restaurants within hobbling on crutches distance?

3. I carry an Irish passport, can I pay for my entry visa in sterling, or do I need to take euros?

I look forward to your replies and any reccomendations and advice that you can offer!!
Many thanks.

I stayed in this hotel in July and found the hotel very basic but clean. I would advise you to go B&B as the food is ok but it repeats everynight. The hotel is very central so all the good bars and restaurants are all round about. Word of warning, to access this hotel there is about 10 marble stairs to get to it.
You pay your entry fee in sterling, £10 note per person.
Hope this helps you.
Enjoy

Hi you will really love Icmeler only got back the being of july after another wonderful holiday. As you can see from this site there is lots of great places for eating and most of them will provide transport to and from your hotel so long as you are eating with them. Will get the thinking cap on but know that there is lot of lovely places within walking distance for you from that hotel would be inclined to either go room only or bed and breakfast or you will miss out on some wonderful experiences.

Welcome to the site, you are going to love icmeler, its up to you about b&b or half board as there are loads and loads of resturants where the bella mare is, you have a full street on both sides with resturants.

It would just be best to pay with a 10 pound note at the airport :) if you have anymore questions I'm sure we'll beable to answer them for you

I stayed at Bellamare a few years ago and there's 2 entrances - both with stairs - I can't remember if there's a handrail can anyone else? I'd agree with other posts too about the food but mainly because there's so many excellent places to eat, I'd go B&B.

Icmeler is very clean so you won't find stuff left around or litter to slip or trip on. The pavements are all very good condition and even. The only thing I'd say is be a little more cautious on the marbled floors/pavements as they can be slippy. Though I haven't counted -at least 85% bars, restaurants, shops are accessible straight from the pavement or with a small step.

Have a great holiday.
