Plumbing System

16 Mar 2007 03:54

Sorry to have to put this question to you but I really would like to know the answer, what is the plumming system like in Icmeler? I know you dont have to pee in a bucket but how bad is it? Sorry once again for a embarrassing subject xx

hiya, and welcome to the forum
the answer to your question is this...............unless you have booked a tent on the beach or in the mountains, i am sure you wont have a problem with the sewerage systems........... in some places they do ask you not to put the toilet roll down the toilet, but hey its a western thing/habbit which comes quite natural, so you can imagine where i put the roll. and i have never had any problems, also i've 3 kids, now try explaining to them why they dont want you to put the toilet roll down the loo, ' its easier to recycle' just does not take effect and the look at you like you have just fallen off the moon. i know this is a bit long winded for a relatively short answer, dont worry icmeler smells of all the nice things in life..............EFES and Kebabs.......... have a good time

You soon get used to having to put your loo roll in a bin! Apart from that, there isn't really any major problems. Is this your first time in Icmeler?

Hi, the toilets are absolutely fine, nothing to worry about.
As mentioned, the loo roll is supposed to be but in a small bin by the side of the cazzy. We always take nappy sacks and put the toilet paper in them and then into the bin. You really do get used to it.

I think the Turkish system is a more hygenic way of using the loo. People always seem to think that putting the loo roll in a bin is a horrendous idea. The fact is that the water jet in the loo cleans you and the loo roll is only used to dry yourself, when it goes into the bin it's clean and pong free. I do remember years ago in Altinkum some people actually managed to block the sewage system by putting loo roll in the toilet, the sewers overflowed, and no one could stand being anywhere near the hotel until it had all been fixed. Use the bins, they're there for a reason.

What water jet in the loo Zog?

16 Mar 2007 18:03

:D Col, I assume you're winding me up here. The wee pipe set in the back of the loo under the seat, you turn a small wheel on the side of the loo and a jet of water washes your nether regions :?

BTW I can still rememeber the hole in the floor toilets with the footprint either side of the hole, it involved a strange balancing act and a good aim to use then successfully.

16 Mar 2007 18:11

 Thats what that pipe is for

Well in all the years I have been going I never knew that

I thought it dripped disinfectant into the loo

Can't wait to get there now to turn the wheel

Col, you're a gem. I've just read out your last post to the family, they're still rolling on the floor and tears are everywhere. Try the pipe the morning after a visit to the Taj..................heavenly. :D

I'm going to phone my mum and dad in a min and ask them if they knew what it was for

God knows what the maids thought when she emptied the bins in our loo's

16 Mar 2007 18:23

I bet you thought the clothes pegs on the maids noses were an old Turkish tradition

Actually I had considered installing the pipe in the loo at home. Then I remembered that our water temperature is about 100 degrees colder that the Turkish water. :(

16 Mar 2007 18:35

ohhh!i never knew that thought was overflow pipe or something...just folded toilet roll up discretely (and carefully) before putting in bin!

Ok getting serious now, this is a major fault on behalf of the tour reps. Years ago all this was explained either on the coach from the airport or at the welcome meeting. Seems like some folk arent doing their jobs properly.

16 Mar 2007 18:53

I am glad it wasn't just me who didn't know that. We have always been told don't put toilet paper down the loo but never wash your bits with the over flow pipe

You are not alone in this, been to Turkey 8 times now, and I didnt know either
