Turkish Bath

04 Feb 2007 22:38

Hi Can anyone tell me what its like to have a Turkish bath? What exactly is it? Its something my hubs and I have often thought of but never got round to doing, but if we go this year we thought we'd give it a go.

I love them..... you go into a circular room, with a high domed ceiling... its all marble, with marble seats round the outside and a circular slab in the middle.... start off at the outside, near a water faucet, splash yourself with cold water, and you start to steam....
Then go and lay on the heated slab in the centre and relax.... the guys will come in and scrub you, to exfoliate, then they have a large pillow case with olive oil soap, and they lather you down, all over.. Then you go off for a cool shower, and they wrap you in towels.... then sit and have a glass of fresh orange, or water and relax again before a wonderful massage..... pure bliss..... cant wait to have another :!: :D

You can go in with with your other half, so no need to worry! I can recommend.

Sounds good, how long does it take, what do they charge :?:

Not sure how long it takes but you can book this with ICR and it costs £10. I was lucky enough to win a Turkish bath in the 2nd ICR quiz so I too am looking forward to going in July to experiance this. Di :)

Sounds good but I'm glad I can take my other half in with me as I think I might feel a bit embarassed going on my own. Is it right that if your going to have one it should be on the first day of your holiday?

05 Feb 2007 22:10

yes this is right - always have it at the beggining of the holiday as it gets rid of all dead skin and can remove your sun tan! but afterwards make sure you use high factor suncream so you dont burn easily!

We love the Turkish Baths! Went with the ICR one last year and had a good laugh - the venue was great - it had a swimming pool outside (wish I'd have known when I booked though!). You need to go at the very beginning of your holiday before your body gets a peek at the sun or it might hurt, we went the first morning in resort.

We always have a massage as well - the oil they use is wonderful.

A must for every Turkish holiday!

ICR - where is the one that you advertise? Icmeler or Marmaris?? I've been to a few now but I know there are lots of them .....

Neets, the one which we use is in icmeler, they will also pick you up from your hotel and take you back. We use the Mersoy exclusive because we feel that you get good value for money, the premises is very clean, and importantly a clean new hand mitt is used with every customer, they conform to the hygene requirements that we expect for our customers.also there are many other treatments that you can have whilst visiting there, and also they have a swimming pol which our customers can enjoy on their visit.

That's good to know - never really thought about using a clean 'scrubber' on each person

The one we usually go to is in Armutalan, on the outskirts of Marmaris - have booked independently in the past, and always been pleased, and come away verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyy relaxed and chilled after the massage.

Is the Mersoy TB very big?

Life is not a rehearsal - so live each day as if it's your last, love each day as if it's your first![/quote]

The Mersoy exclusive is quite big inside, there are showers, toilets changing rooms, a jacuzzi, rest area, gymn, swimming pool, sauna, treatment rooms and also the oil massage rooms. Its never packed with large groups, which makes it have more of a relaxing ambience to it.You can take things at your own pace, and refreshments are also available.

If your in icmeler just pop to the office and if you would like a tour round before you book, then we will be happy to take you, so you can see what to expect on your turkish bath experience.

Hi Diane,
glad you asked that question because I was wondering about the same thing. :D

Hi diane

A bikini is better, because they can rub all the dead skin of your tummy, but if you want to wear a costume, then whatever you feel the most comfortable in will be best for you. Yes take a towel with you and a hairbrush, because your hair will get a little wet when having your bath.
