icmeler..this time of year..

whats it like ? any photo's..... just trying to imagine down at the sports bar, loveboat restaurant & friends bar across the road.. we usually end up down at that end of icmeler on nights out....

Two words...very quiet. The places you mentioned, along with the vast majority of bars, hotels and restaurants in the resort, are all closed and shuttered. There are a few places which stay open all year round - but you could have a look at a webcam and you'll see very few cars or people around. There is of course work going on with some places undergoing refurbishment and so on.

There is more traffic passing my house in Marmaris in one day than would be seen all winter in Icmeler

Icmeler is a beautiful place in summer when when all the lights are on and the place is buzzing but come winter and all is boarded up and people have moved to their own towns and cities then all it leaves are the local people in the village and the ex pats that live there

I have had messages from people in Icmeler to find a bar to meet up as I think the only place open in Icmeler is Rashids Rush bar

Once the weather warms up and flowers start and people start to return then I will get some photos up for everyone but in the meantime I am not riding over to take pics of dogs walking the street and beaches bare

Hey how are you Peli, its been a long long while

Ok seeing as you have outlined some things I will do my best to reply top you and also it may help some people out also

Firstly this forum belongs to a travel agency that works in a resort that has a 6 month life every year

We do not sell holidays to a town that has closed down in the winter we do though for the summer when the place is a vibrant colourful happy place so for me to put on photos of places that are boarded up and deserted streets does not bode good for advertising

We are a holiday forum, we are not an ex pats forum yet there are quite a few ex pats forums out there run for ex pats and not really for holiday makers that want to see what the resort that they have booked for looks like in the summer.

Not every person who has booked a holiday to any resort has the ins and outs of the place they are going to as they could be first timers so as this being a holiday forum then the photos we would like to display would be colourful ones of flowers, mountains, shops open, beachfronts lively etc etc etc.

At the moment Icmeler is the opposite of that so hence we do not want to put any photos up as we do not see anything of worth to show the people who are coming maybe first time in the summer.

Talking about bars open and places to go then I have only seen up to date one person ask about this and that was the topic starter, Jimmy from Glasgow and as it was brass monkey weather today I would not even think of throwing w photo up

I have had people who live there as I said earlier contact me and say hey John is there a bar near you where we can meet up, there is only Rush open or I go for a beer at Ugra cafe (these are not my words as I do know that Kapisi opens in the daytime as I have stopped there every time I have been into Icmeler.

I know what you are saying about the air fresh the sky is blue etc but that is for the people who live there in winter and of course me that visits but that does not reflect on what the tourists want to see.

Hey by all means if you want to report on the daily goings on of Icmeler ( I think you are here at the moment as even though times slips away fast here I am certain I spotted you a while back I think with your wife somewhere getting in your car, mind plays tricks with me as I get older) by all means get your thoughts on here from your perspective on living there in winter and if you would like to put some photos on then by all means do so but until it gets a little warmer and the place is looking brighter I will leave it a while yet

Don't forget now as you have posted about Icmeler it would be good to get a kind of roving reporters insight

Sorry all if there is a few mistakes but my fingers feel really cold typing and have just turned the heating on as its blowing a cold one from Istanbul tonight

Peli I am sorry as I have just re read your post and I seemed to somehow just picked out bits

I see now you say "if you wish to delete me" we do not delete people Peli but we do let them back in after someone else bans them

I also do not think you have gone too far but remember we are a HOLIDAY tourist forum and it is an information forum for the said people

If you think I have insulted the town of Icmeler then you have really not taken what I said as a tourist but as an ex pat and as I said and keep saying, we are not an ex pat forum we are a holiday forum

I would also like to say that if you have any input about Icmeler that you would like to share with our members then why ask them to send you a private message to do so, surely you could let them all see on the forum your photos and your thoughts.

Maybe you could start a daily blog and do a weather report and add the photos, similar to what I did myself when I lived in Icmeler.

I have read your last couple of posts on different topics and I will not go into details of the remarks you make but you give me the feeling that you have something against JT as well as ICR. We are a holiday company and this forum is for holidaymakers. I think there are a lot of other places where you can go and share your thoughts re JT and the company he represents etc. BUT Not here and not again.

I am not going to let you start cyber fights again like you done way back.

I have to agree get off your backside and get them legs moving. Everyone wants to see pictures of empty beaches and stray dogs.
You are not entitled to anytime off you are living every day as a holiday aren't you????

By the way I will not see you this year as I am expecting a special delivery in June. Hope you are all well and I will hopefully speak next year and plague your life out with different requests!!
