October

01 Aug 2014 15:31

It has been 5 years since we have been to Icmeler. Something always seemed to crop up like weddings or work commitments to stop us returning. I think I now have a two week window to get us back there, but it will be the first two weeks of October. I've looked at the temperature stats but has anyone had experience of these two weeks. Are we likely to have poolside weather for example and are the majority of bars and restaurants still open. Thanks.

October can be a bit hit or miss, weather-wise - we went several years running and it was lovely - we were on the beach most days, then one year it rained almost all week (that was very unusual though!) You might get the odd day of rain and some people do find it a bit cooler in the evenings. Most places will still be open, although they do start to close down from about the middle of the month onwards...

We were there the first week of October last year and generally it was pool weather, we had 1 afternoon of rain & thunder storms. However I understand the week after we left the weather improved (typical!!)

I wore a cardigan 3 nights out of the 7 & we are going back 4 October this year. its a really nice time to go.

Thanks both of you. I just need to find apartments without to many scary negatives from Trip Advisor.

Why don't you have a look at some of the apartments on here...it would give you an idea of what's available.

Hi Blondie, I have as I intend to book through ICR. I know you should read between the lines, but where you have negative comments about cleanliness or the owner's attitude it can be quite disconcerting. Unfortunately, both the apartments I've used in the past no longer exist. Do you have any favourites?

Sun Village is a nice little complex up in the old village - family-run, nice quiet location.

The majority of the apartments that ICR generally have good/great reviews. If you look at TA you need to weed out the comments that are just negative for negative sake. I always start by reading the worst reviews for a place a nd see what people are moaning about.people moan about the stupedest things, there was no taster, you only got 1 toilet roll etc. Also if a place tends to have 2 many people who are reviewing for the first time that can set off alarm bells

Do you want to stay in village or in town?

Hi smc. Thanks for replying. My preference would be either in, or a few minutes stroll to town, although I haven't ruled out the village entirely. I have stayed in enough self catering apartments to know that 'basic' should be expected, and I'm happy with that. I choose self catering like most to give me the freedom of coming and going at will, and most importantly the opportunity to try out as many restaurants and bars as I can. All I want is a decent level of cleanliness and not to be given a hard time by the owner for eating out.
