M56 Weekend Closure

The M56 will be CLOSED in both directions between Junction 5/6 near to Manchester Airport from 10pm Friday 1 August until 5am Monday 4 (edited) August.

If you are travelling to Manchester Airport using the M56 from the East, ie Wales, Chester, Knutsford, you will leave at Junction 6 and be diverted to the terminals......

If you are travelling to Manchester Airport using the M56 from the West ie M62/M60/A5103 you will still be able to leave the M56 at junction 5 and travel as normal to the terminals..
You will NOT be able to travel between junctions 5 and 6 due to the Demolishing of a bridge..

Please leave enough time for your Journey and enough Efes for when I go in September

Hi, cheers for info… Not being pedantic, but 5th of August is a Tuesday (well I hope it is ‘cause that’s when I’m flying).. So it must be closed ‘till Monday 4th 5.00 am??

This doesn't affect me personally but it was very good of you posting this information as there's many who travel from far and wide to Manchester for their flights and wouldn't know about this diversion.

Hi JT,
From 1 August there will be 26 weeks of roadworks along that stretch for a bridge replacement. . I will post any closures that may affect travellers, as I use the M56 daily to Wales. ..
