.......as you like (within reason I guess) on the way back from Turkey on the plane, as you're no longer in Turkey?

No, you would still be arriving in the UK from outwith the EU, so these are the restrictions which apply:
Tobacco allowances
You can bring in one from the following:
200 cigarettes
100 cigarillos
50 cigars
250g tobacco

That's what I thought blondie, but a friend who just came back from Turkey said that once on the plane they were allowed to buy more ciggys as they were then not in Turkey and they were duty free!

Ahh, but there's a big difference between how much they will sell you - and how much you're legally allowed to bring into the country! Cheeky, I know - but there you go! Same at Dalaman, they will more often than not sell you as much as you like - and some people are quite happy to take the risk of being caught...

the guys at
Dalaman airport will tell you the wrong thing. All they are interested in is taking as much money as possible. We were told we could take 1000 cigarettes each, luckily enough we knew different
Wonder how many poor souls get caught out with that lie

I know you're only allowed to bring 200 back from Dalaman, but these are people who are on the plane coming home and told they're allowed to bring more back as once on the place it's classed as duty free!!!!

Doesn't matter - still the same rules. Up to you whether you feel it's worth taking the chance though - as I said, they will tell you anything to make the sale...

I have to agree with Blondie. We were in a similar situation coming from the Canary Islands where the allowance for cigarettes is 200. We were told we could bring more and had that allowance on us when we were stopped by Customs on our return journey. Fortunately we had a leaflet which said we could have more and Customs allowed us to take through the cigarettes, cautioned us and took the leaflet from us to take the matter further. I personally wouldn't risk it but each to their own.

Oh no I wouldn't risk it, i get stopped and searched every time I fly anyway so not risking that too.
Just asked the question

Theoretically you can bring back as many cigarettes as you can carry, the question is are you prepared to declare them and pay the duty on them once you enter the UK?

Only if it's Duty Paid within the EU.
^^^^The truth direct from the horses mouth.
Bringing Goods into the UK The story about buying on the plane is a load of guff and the person who told it is severely misinformed.

As I said if you are prepared to declare them and pay the duty
