Hi everyone - I am interested to find out which board basis everyone choses and why? We always choose B&B coz it seems to us to be cheap enough and don't have to bother going looking for your breakfast or making your own!! But it does appear to me that many of you
icmeler lovers go to apartments. Can I be cheeky and ask what sort of prices you are paying please?

Hi Mandy Mo
I always stay in a self catering apartment & this year got an early booking deal of £22 per night for a studio apartment because I booked before 31 Dec.
I'm a diabetic & need a fridge for meds which does steer my choices but I do like the freedom of self catering.
I also like to support the local businesses & eat out because its got so much tougher for them with the uprising of all inclusive.

We like either B & B or SC - we have visitied
Icmeler 15 times and last time we tried AI but did not like it at all the food was terrible and the
hotel was overun with Russians - so no we will always stay clear of AI and stick to what we like - there are too many nice restaurants in Icmeler to eat at .... when we were AI we ended up visiting the mini bank as we ate out most of the time anyway ....

I always choose self catering as I am sure many will say, there is just too much choice of places to eat and drink in the resort to stay in one place. Though I always have breakfast wherever I am staying and I am more a pool person so tend to drink there and eat lunch on the odd day too but evening time, I like sitting at the bar, dressed for dinner and thinking about which restaurant to try out or to go back to. I would think about bed and breakfast if it were an especially a good deal but really, self catering all the way.

Have always went S/C except for lat year when we went AI. It was Ok but much prefer S/C. For starters you get a fridge great for keeping things cold and you have the freedom to eat when you like
For us breakfast is just a case of going to Tansas, buying some cornflakes and milk and have tha with a cup of coffee. Lunch is usually eating out but sometimes we buy a whole chicken a some fresh bread and salad and have that. eat out every night.
Price wise, my wife and i go late May and couple of days into June. For 2 weeks I dont think we have ever paid any more than £100 for our 2 weeks. Always stayed in apartments that ave been fine, clean and with great owners

Thanks for your replies everyone. We also like the freedom of doing and going as we please, and dining where we want. But when I'm on holiday - it has to be A HOLIDAY!!! Not even breakfast to be made and dishes to wash up - which is why we chose B&B. But I do agree, AI is killing all the food businesses and it is down to us to make sure that they keep open the best we can. We tend to feel that once we have had breakfast (already made for us and no dishese to clear up!) that's it for the day - come and go as we want then. When we were there last year, we ate of an evening at The Wine Bar (delicious), 3/4 Bells (delicious), Buffalo (average), Home (twice!), Sidik's (overpriced), Fryar Tucks (overpriced), Cafe Anne (about 6 times!!!), Jimmy's (lovely late afternoon snack), a back street kebab place in Marmaris, and a couple of days spent on the beach in Turunc where we had a late afternoon snack which sufficed our needs. This year we shall try different places again. I'm planning Allin's Grill, Charlies, Champagne, Chef, YOLO, Tommy's, and probably a few others - see how it goes. Will also return to some good old faves like Cafe Anne and Jimmy's. No matter where you eat in Icmeler, you are bound to have a good meal and not be disappointed. Happy holidays everyone and thanks once again for your feedback.

With out a doubt self catering is the best for Icmeler. We have been s/c since 2005 after using lovely
hotel since 1998.
Last year £33 per night for 2 in a great one bedroomed apartment. We only snack in and eat at night in the town.
If we want a full english breakfast we go out, only approx £2.50 each. You really cannot fail.
I can understand for some, families perhaps it may not be practical, but it is worth a try.
Icmeleronline have plenty of great options all over Icmeler.

Self Catering for us every time.
Love the freedom, just need an apartment to shower & sleep.
It can work out almost the same price in some apartments as going in a hotel, but it's still S/C for us.
Last year a full English breakfast was £1 & it was good.

Self catering for us. We need a fridge for medicines, I need coffee before I can function and there are so many great restaurants and bars in
Icmeler that it would be a sin to miss out on them.

Risking All Inc this year .... Although me and Mrs G will be eating/drinking out most evenings .... But for Breakfast and Pool days we'll save a bit of money I reckon ... As you can spend for fun on some drinks and lunch by your normal
Hotel Pool!
I'll re-post in July what we thought of it no doubt! ... Just hope it was good!

We went AI last year for the fist time, it was not that more expensive than S/C. The food was OK and we had more than enough drinks to get out moneys worth during the day. However as it was AI it was a fairly big
hotel as they have to be. We normally stay in apartments with 20 apartments not all of which a re booked and we missed the friendliness of the small apartment block
Geordie, which AI are you staying at

Hi SMC, we're staying at the the Le'toile just down towards the Beach on the left from the Square ... We've stayed at the Mersoy Bella Vista twice last year and once the year before and enjoyed it B&B, but they've went All inclusive and we were concerned that with it being quite small the range of food would be terrible .... Where you staying or stayed at All inc?
17 Feb 2014 10:13
Hi geordie
We stayed at the VELA which is right on the square and it was OK. the food was OK nothing special and as with most AI it can be a bit repetitive. The
hotel had 98 rooms but we normally stay in smallish apartments so missed the intimate atmpsphere of the apartments. WE ate breakfast and lunch as well as drinks during the morning and afternoon. had several meals at night which I enjoyed bu the wife did not really enjoy. I just prefer the freedom to eat when we want
So its back to our usual s/c apartments for 2 weeks in May

We usually go self catering or b&B - so many fab places to eat out in Icmeler. Turkish breakfasts for us all the way!
17 Feb 2014 13:49
first time to
Icmeler last year and we stayed AI, going back again this August and staying AI again, we find that we are in pocket by going AI. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but after spending many years going SC when the kids were young we like the fact that we don't have to go walkabouts every meal time.
17 Feb 2014 17:34
That is one thing that I do enjoy is making a decision on where to eat each night, and at what time which varies greatly depending on our mood. AI I find just a little constraining eating at set meal times
17 Feb 2014 18:57
Know what you mean SMC .... We're the same, but price was key this year and the £1600 for 2 weeks AI seemed good value!
We'll see in a few weeks if that was a good choice or not!

Me too, sometimes if I've had a bit of a drinky session in the afternoon, I might not want to eat until late.
