Hi
I've booked my holiday to
Icmeler 13 June for 2 weeks & understand England's 3 World Cup group games are being played during that time.
Knowing how much most the Turks love football I imagine its going to be good, even with some of the matches being a bit late into the evening.
Can anybody advise whats its been like in previous years?
Thanks

We were there last time round - it's everywhere and great fun to watch it with a big crowd on a huge screen. Almost every bar shows football of whatever type all of the time, but it really is all over when it's the world cup - or it was in 2010 anyhow

that's why we have booked early this year to avoid it, I don't like football and it spoilt it for me last time we was there during a world cup kind of dictated where we could go so to avoid it, spent a lot of time at the wayside and stella show lol.

Same here Elayne. I don`t like football either but like to holiday in July. Have been in
Icmeler during a few world cups and it does seem to take over. Just hope that as it is held in Brazil the time difference will mean that we can avoid most if not all of them

I've just checked when each game will be played. Although two weeks of the world cup will be held whilst we're in Icmeler, all the games apart from two will be held at 11pm. The two games will be on our first day and the final game, so that`s not too bad

Absolutely appreciate not everybody is into Football.
Also to advise the England games are on the following dates and times; times are local to Turkey:
Sunday 15th June 1am
Thursday 19th June 10pm - this time was changed due to pressure from UK media
Tuesday 24th June 7pm
Thought this info would be useful, even to those who don't like the game.
To those that do, it will be a carnival atomsphere I'm sure.
