Turkey Holiday Visa

After April 2014 I'm told that the Holiday visitors visa will have to be purchased online. My question is what is the earliest time prior to the holiday dates booked can you get the visa and secondly what is the best web site to do this on? I noticed that the Turkish embassy was warning not to pay over the odds as some websites might charge a fee for purchasing the visa

Use the official website were you will be charged 20 US dollars £12 to £13 you can apply for you e-visa 3 months before your departure and before 24 hours of departure.

Yes, apparently so, Sami - from April 10, you will only be able to get your visa online.

After 10th April 2014 you will no longer be able to purchase your visa at the airport. All visa's must now be applied for online

Which means all those poor souls who DO NOT have access to computers, and I believe there are still quite a few out there, will have trouble getting a visa, or worse still, arrive without one !!
Wonder if the airlines / holiday companies will advise travellers about the online only visa prior to booking / travel.

Indeed, mansy - and there are reports that some travel agents are still unaware of the changes and telling people that they will be able to get a visa on arrival!

In this modern day a lot of things are moving online and although some people may not have access to the internet at home most places have libraries with internet or internet cafes or know people who have internet. Flights alone now are generally booked online and people have e-tickets so an e-visa is nothing different. Turkey is not the first country to make applications for visa online, for many years now countries requiring visas for entry have done so online, Turkey is just coming more up to date. Flight companies are now contacting passengers advising them of the new e-visa rule, however, it is the responsibility of the traveller to check visa requirements before travel.

I believe that you have never been able to visit India unless you get a visa far in advance

Hi John,
A friend has a place in Goa (India) where he stays for almost 6 months, because the visa is only valid 6 months, he has to go to the office in Manchester, as near to his flights as possible so it stays valid for his return journey..
also I think his last Visa was in the region of £104 each..until a couple of years ago he had to travel to Birmingham, the nearest office..

I personally think it is better that you get the visa prior to travel, must save time not having to queue for it.
We like many of you have been sorting flights & printing off tickets for a good few years with no problems.

Still feel for those without computers & printers or the know how to use them, and there are some out there.

Fingers crossed the news spreads as there could be some people denied entry - I can't imagine how arwful that would be.

I got a email marked urgent from my booking provider advising of the change & the importance of the new visa.

I believe entry to the USA is also similar by way of an online process.

Hopefully this will cause less of a delay at Dalaman than what we're all used to?

No more panicking looking for another £10 note, as unknown to me Mrs G treat herself to something extra on the flight! Lol

But does anyone know if Dalaman is being revamped so there's only one queue straight through, rather than the traditional right hand side queue for getting your Visa after handing over the £10 and then having to queue again to the left for Passport control?

If you have already got your e-visa then there will only be one queue at the airport and that will be just for going through passport control.

Well i have just found out about this through trip adviser and on here, even though we booked our whole package holiday through a travel agent! We were also asked i we knew that we would have to each have a £10 for our visa at Dalaman airport, to which we replied yes we knew about the visa in the airport as we have been before.
We are in the travel agent on a regular basis at the moment to pay off our holiday bit by bit and not once has anyone in there told us about the change to how to get your visa and also the price increase. Lucily like i said i have found out about it on here but what about the people in my situation who dont come on forums or trip adviser etc???
I am one of those people who do not own a printer!? so i shall mention it to the travel agent but if they cant/wont print us (family of 5) off our visas we are stuck! no internet cafe around here it would mean having to ask a friend if i could hassle them to use their computer and printer for our holiday visa.
I dont really disagree with having to do it online however i am shocked at travel agents not telling us about this, yes its our job to make sure we have a visa but surely its the travel agents to tell you correctly how to get them and if it is online and you dot own a computer/printer they should be able to do it for you, after all we are paying them for our holiday and the visa as well.
I feel sorry for the people going at the begining of the season who do not know about this and still think you can get them at the airport - computer and printer owners or not.

Its shocking the amount of people not aware & agree there could be problems with people being denied entry.

I know agents won't accept responsiblity for visas (in case of mis spellings etc) but think they should provide access to their computers for their customers to use.

Other countries require online visas for entry, I've had Australian & US visa waiver online but neither of these required a print out.

thats the problem for us - printing them out - wasn't planning on buying a printer to be able to go on holiday. I totally agree the travel agents should let their customers print off their visas i their shops but knowing our luck im betting we will have problems with this.
This is going to cause a lot of "teething problems" with quite drastic outcomes like people not being able to enter the country

Your local library should be able to help you print it out, daisysun...but I do agree, I can foresee a bit of chaos looming when this is enforced in April.
