Memories

21 Oct 2006 10:20

I know some people are still on holiday and that the season isnt quite over but for me they are just memories now, those happy times in Icmeler.

They are but memories now,
Those walks along the promenade and taking lunch at the Erdem.
The boat trips were we visited the cave, fed the fish at the fish farm and swam from the boat into cristal clear waters.

Only memories now of the jeep safari when we visited the waterfall, walked out to sea on the sandbank at Oranihya and got involved in endless water fights with fellow jeepers.

My lonely walks in the early morning around the village, no one for company but the hens ,goats and numerous birds singing their morning song, with the rhythmic beat of the crickets in the background.
The smell of the land and off the bakers shop, so distinctive.

Nights spent in the restaurents and bars, enjoying a meal and a few drinks with friends, singing and dancing and watching the shows are all but fading memories.

The winter will be long and cold but as long as we can hang onto our memories the time will soon pass till we again return to our magical place.

Well that certainly brightened up a horrible rainy Sunday morning Gene. Memories of this year and anticipation of next year keeps most of us going till we return 'home' to Icmeler. I love the sound of your morning walks in the old village and have been meaning to follow in your footsteps but always oversleep - must be the sea air (or the Efes!). However we're going late May next year for 3 weeks so surely we can set the alarm one day and see the village. What time of morning do you walk round the village?

Morning dotty,
I go about 7-15 to 7-30 time, but in August a little earlier if I want to catch the sun rising.

We go over on the 24th of May so I will call round and give a knock on your door then you wont be late.

People miss so much by not getting up early,to me early morning is the best part of the day even at home in England, mornings are something special.

Its funny that Gene because at home I'm always up early even (and especially) at weekends when I don't have to be up for work, nearly always up before 7am, so it must be the Efes in Icmeler that keeps me in bed till 8.30 or so. I won't take you up on your offer to knock my door but hopefully will see you one morning bright and early in the old village. Are you there for 2 weeks at that time?

Yes Two weeks, then two weeks again in August,I also love the high temperatures and balmy nights.
