Agency Types:
Operating Agencies: Those with TURSAB plates on their vehicles windshield.
Reseller Agencies: Most online companies based overseas working with operating agencies.
Both: Example: ICR Travel

We have our own operations as well as a network with those licensed companies we test/find reputable and
respectable in running their operations and business.

The important factor in choosing who to work with is post service policies. We have a customer satisfaction guarantee which means, if things go wrong, all companies involved in that given operation should feel responsible and be a part of the solution in assuring customers' full satisfaction.

Legal Transfers:
Tursab Bonded companies (A Grade) who hold or network with companies who hold D2 Licenses
These D2 licenses are given under certain conditions and against good amount of investment.

Initial cost: £10K - License fee valid for 5 years
Conditions: Company organising commercial airport transfers
must have minimum of 6 vehicles (75 seats) approx investment £100K
All vehicles must be insured fully against: collision, comprehension, 3rd party,
seat insurance, upto date motor vehicle inspections by TUV and specially licensed drivers.

Additionally, the transfer company must work with a A Grade Tursab Licensed (ABTA of Turkey) agency to operate between the resort and the airport.

Illegal Transfers: Those organised privately by some hotels, by all restaurants, by anyone and any company
who does not hold a D2 license and/or holding a A Grade Tursab License.

All in all, if you have any doubt as to the person/company you are dealing with in terms of their main area of business,then stay well away.

One story says it all:

Last season, an Icmeler restaurant offering transfers to its customers in a rent a car. Dont know for how much but
as they were travelling towards DLM airport, they got pulled over and since they did not have proper licensing,
they got fined over 1200 English Sterling. I am not sure how long they were held up on their way but I know the tourist passengers never made it to their flight so it was a costly airport transfer for all parties involved.

Good point, Rami. The world and his dog offers airport transfers in Turkey, but if you chose the wrong one, you have no comeback should anything go wrong. It's always worth checking they are properly licensed before booking. And don't think because they're expensive, they're legit. It's not always the cheapo companies who are the cowboys.
