PICKLED GARLIC

07 Aug 2011 13:22

Can anybody tell me if you can get pickled garlic anywhere in Icmeler/Marmaris? We buy it here from a market stall where the bloke sells olives and feta cheese etc. I suspect it would be something you can get but i dont know where. Any help greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can buy it from some of the stalls at the Wednesday market. As you go into the market from the bottom end, there are all the fruit and veg stalls there, and several of them sell stuff like picked garlic, chillies and so on. We brought some home in June.

What do you do with it - just curious as to what recipes you make with it?

reesy, you just eat it mate - its a lovely with a salad or just on its own as a snack. the wife says it goes well with olives but i aint keen on them, all i can say is its lovely, give it a whirl mate - if you like garlic then you will love it.

Makes a nice salad dressing too - we chuck it in with all sorts of dishes such as curries, stir-fries and so on.

Word of warning though, avoid the decorative jars that may have bits of chili or pistachios in too, they are for decoration and christ knows how old sometimes, i tried some and it was vile, make sure they are the foodstuff ones, not the kitchen decorations!

The stuff we buy is locally produced definitely not just for decoration - it's usually bottled in old juice bottles!
