Hanedan is up the road into the village that passes the Romance Restaurant,(about 200 yards past) not the road near to the Tansas.

I was told the Hanedan was past Tansas. It is supposed to be excellent and I can't wait to try the food for myself in 4 weeks and 6 days time

For traditional try the 'Karem' on the canal its opposite (other side of canal) to the Venice.
Absolutely beautiful food in a superb setting, sat having a lovely meal a great setting while across the canal the Venice was noisy singing etc. know which we preferred.

No, we passed a few times in June, but we will definitely give it a go in October.

You go up the road which runs up the side of the Azra jewellers and past the Romance Palace to get to the Hanedan - it's further up that road on the right hand side.

Is Lal Restaurant not quite authentic? They do advertise as being traditional ottomen cuisine, so I would think it a pretty good bet. That is of course if Lal is still there???

The Lal is still there, but I don't know what it's like this year as we didn't eat there in June. It was certainly very good when we were in last year, but I believe it has had a change of management since then.

Hi blondie, I went there when it was still Meyzen and a chap called Bobby ran it. It was very good food but found it quite expensive, not been there since it was Lal as it never looks very busy.

Hanedan really appeals to me, and I would love to visit next week. Can anybody tell me what kind of food they do and would it be the kind of place to stay there all evening, or is it just a restaurant serving food?
21 Jul 2011 15:57
The Hanedan serves traditional Turkish barbecue cooking - the food is all freshly cooked, mostly on an open charcoal grill, and it doesn't come with the rice and chips, etc, that you get in most places. The meze platter you get for your starter is almost a meal in itself - lovely lavash bread, various dips, charcoal-grilled vegetables, humous and so on, as well as cheese rolls and a little pide. It is a restaurant though - no entertainment, dancing waiters, Michael Jackson or Tina Turner (thank god!) Just a lovely relaxing place to enjoy excellent authentic Turkish food.

Ditto the above post. Its a fantastic, authentic Turkish experience. No entertainment - the food and attentiveness of the staff is enough.Wish I could sample it this year. To anybody who goes there - enjoy!

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
Will certainly be trying a few.

I am really looking forward to eating at Hanedan. For me the holiday is about enjoying myself with my son and eating wonderful Turkish food in a normal Turkish restaurant, not a tourist trap.
We certainly shall enjoy mks, and maybe even enjoy some more on your behalf
