Bees

19 Jul 2011 11:47

For anyone that has been this year so far, is there a problem with the bees yet? I got stung last year on the butt and it really hurt but I think this may have been later in the year??? If anyone noticed any bees plopping out the sky or bee-ing a pain, I would be grateful to know.

Didn't see any when we were there in June, Sami - I've only usually seen them later in the season.

I got stung on the leg whilst sunbathing on the beach two years ago and it was July- insects seen to make a....dare I say it? beeline for me. It was almost worth getting bitten with all the attention I got from everyone around, that is until the boat guy told me if bitten he goes into an anaphylactic shock that can kill him (I really needed to know at that time!!!)

Hope there aren't too many bees this year. There were plenty last year at end of Sept and beginning of Oct. We are also going to the Devamli in September Mel. I'll be up on the sunbathing deck with a big fly swatter :x :x

We never saw any last two weeks in June but one year we were on a boat trip and the boat stopped for a swim break and I never saw so many bees in all my life!Weird. We set sail and they were still buzzing about...very scarey...though normally here they dont bother me at all.

most of them arrive in september, its when the bee keepers bring them down from the mountain, always seem to be loads in turunc.
they are at thire worst when they are docile.

i got a bad one on my bum about 7 years ago couldnt sit down for a day after, used half a bottle of lemon colone on it trouble was i couldnt reach it very well so guess who had to do it.

They have only been a problem for us in September when they are dying off, they are on the floor around the swimming pool etc,my grandaughter trod on one around the pool twice within half an hour, poor thing, she always wears sandals now that month.Never been a problem in June when we also go.

We were on the beach whilst on a jeep safari a few years ago when my son swatted a bee away and it landed on my daughter and stung her arm. She started screaming and suddenly 2 turkish men came running up with a teapot and some sugar lumps. I thought OMG theyve brought us a cuppa. No, they put the sugarlumps on her arm and poured the very hot water onto them. She yelled cos the water was so hot but then stopped as it had taken the pain away instantly. We were amazed. We still laugh about it many years later and she stills blames her brother for sending it her way. She loves him really

Last July my hubby got a bite on his calf that exploded into a massive swell. He went to Dr Murrat at the Surgery that is in the Tansas area of Icmeler. He offered 1st class medi care with NO EXCESS or need for cash upfront, They have a english speaking nurse from the UK ( Edinburgh I think ) who will guide you and tell the truth that no money is needed for doctors fees or medicine... Dr Murrat is a pro and wont ripoff tourists.

I think JT mentioned that Dr Murrat is the Doc to see if you need help and I would echo theese recomendations.

If you have insurance for the family then you have nothing to worry about if you visit Dr Murrat. He will claim it from your insurance rather than asking you for money/cash before treatment .

This is from experience.

My brother (50) got stung in his ear last September, whilst on jeep safari!
He shouted, the jeep stopped(quickly), driver jumped out and got some mud, camera man got sting out and driver plastered his ear with the mud. This was all done in a flash, VERY impressed. Stopped the stinging quite quickly!!
We may carry some good old "Waspies" this year.
