Cash (GBP) and a safe at your hotel is the best exchange rate

Exchange offices are charging commission for cheques and then tax on top!! so instead of 2.58 lira advertised you end up with 2.4 lira to the pound  supermarkets give much better exchange rates

We took stirling travellers cheques this year and lived to regret it. We paid commision to buy them and again to exchange. It's Stirling, Turkish Lira, and a safe for me in future.

i changed mine in the supermarket, got the same exchange rate and no commision

last year i was getting exactly the same for cash or cheques at the icr supermarket . so i was thinking of euro travellers as there is no commision in the uk so its like a safer form of cash . but im worried about the exchange rate as everyone on here comments on the price of sterling but no one mentions the euro so im not sure what to do yet...

Hope you get your mind settled Geordie :) my hubby is a bit strait laced some may say but even he has been converted to cash but ALWAYS with a safe :D we do not begrudge the cost of the safe as it is minimal compared to what we could possibly lose :!: you make the best choice for you and yours we all have our preferences

For the sake of peace of mind and full insurance incase of loss or if they get stolen it's travellers cheques every time!
2% commission compared to losing everything you have saved so hard for is a small price to pay I think.
