Annual Holiday Insurance

23 May 2011 19:36

Well we went to renew our annual travel insurance today. Last year we paid £89 which covers both of us, this year they wanted £201 - why the massive jump?

I already pay dearer because I have a heart condition, but this is extortionate, I have shopped around today and most places are around the same. The cheapest I can get would be to take out two individual insurances, which would cost me £82 for the June holiday and the same for the October holiday.

Does anyone know of any cheaper places for annual insurance that would cover medical conditions for the heart?

Try getmy.com. My partner has a health problem that requires declaring and we find them very good.Mark

Hi reesy1959
It might be easier if you list the insurance companies you have tried, and then you will hopefully get different ones to try.
I would suggest

http://www.moneysupermarket.com/c/trave ... onditions/

Tried the above two, and they are coming out more expensive than the quotes I have already received. Thanks for the links though - always worth a try.

The moneysupermarket was the one I went through today.

Looks like either the two single trips insurance, but I will try my bank tomorrow, who offer free travel insurance, and just see how much the excess for the heart condition will be.

I still cant believe how much these have jumped up since last year.

i always go on money supermarket & go with flexi cover as only £31 for an annual one for the 2 of us. however if you want your medical conditions covered most on there wont be any good. try marks & spencer or saga as i think both of them cover medical conditions & are supposidly reasonable. good luck :D

We'd always gone off a list we found on one of the heart charity websites (sorry, can't find it at the moment, but let me know if you want me to take another look...) but we actually managed to get a reasonable deal from the AA this year (£146 for me, my wife and our daughter who has a heart condition).

Hi reesy1959
Have had a look on the British heart foundation website
http://www.bhf.org.uk/publications/view ... ps=1001214
Click on download and a 9 page pdf file with customer recommendations for insurance.
Hope it helps.

If you have the details of the AA insurance, that would be great if you could email me the information please. Thanks very much.

Managed to find one for £178.66 which I would need to phone tomorrow, so that is about the cheapest for annual up to now. Thanks for the link. I will try the AA that Paul has used and see what they can come up with.

It wasn't any particular or special policy - we just asked for their normal annual one, went through medical screening, and got a quote.

Sorry I can't be more help :(

- Paul.

Thanks, just tried that one now, but I was declined because of my heart complaint. Thanks for the name of that one though, hadn't heart of that one.
