Dilhan Hotel Question

16 May 2011 16:34

Hi everyone,
Just wondering, can anyone confirm that the dilhan hotels swimming pool is the same depth all the way round at 1.7 metres?
I myself can swim, but at 5'6" tall am under that depth and I can't tread water, and my girlfriend does not swim at all but looked forward to being able to just stand up in it to cool down!
Had I have known this I wouldn't have booked to stay there!
I feel it's put a slight downer on our first time in icmeler already.
So if anyone can shed any light on whether its true or not I would be very appreciative.
Thanks
Chris

Hi - have never been to this hotel myself although we do go to Icmeler twice a year. If you look at the reviews for Dilhan Hotel on ICR website you will see that one person does say hotel is 1.7metres all around and that adults used to sit in childrens pool to cool off. Hope you wont let this spoil your holiday - Icmeler is lovely and the people are so friendly and you will find a lot of places will let you use their pool if you have a drink thereif you fancy trying somewhere else. Beach is nice too and sea quite shallow and safe for non swimmers. Have a good holiday.

you could also use another apartments pool, most of them dont mind if you buying a few drinks.

hi chris

I have stayed at dilhan and the pool is deep all over. I'm 5'6" and it was too deep for me. My husband is 6'7" and he could stand. I did use the baby pool to cool off or walk to the beach close by.

i hope this don't put you off, as Icmeler is such a lovely place

Thanks for the replys everyone.
I certainly won't let it spoil my holiday, I think it's just a case of the point of having a pool is so it's useable for everyone, and I know I could use other hotel pools, but it would have been nice to be able to have a dip and then if needed pop back in to our room, rather than have to dry off and then walk back to our hotel!
I know it may seem petty, but as I said, I wouldnt have booked this hotel had I known!
I will certainly be going to the beach that's for sure :)

having looked at quite a few most of them seem to be 1.7 or 1.6 and they all seem to be the same depth all the way around which i found really weird as here most of ours vary in depth as you go up the pool

Hi Chris! We stayed at the Dilhan twice before and didnt use the pool as we love the beach. Its a fantastic location for everything, shops, beach, bars, restaurants and Oz is the best barman ever. Everynight you can sit up around the bar when you get in chatting to others staying there.Really friendly and relaxed.Oz will put himself out no end for you.Lots of inflatables and those foam stick things to manage in the pool....or stroll along to the beach and just do the depth you feel ok with.Have a great time! :D

I love swimming but as i am only a dinky 4ft 11ins (great things come in small parcels :D ) i can never touch the bottom of a pool so i buy a long foam tube also take it to the beach also as i do not like getting out of my depth, i am sure your girlfriend will be fine with one of those, also go on a boat trip all the boats provide them also have a great time :D :D
