Abandoned Village?

Just looking at the great pictures by John Shepherd and i saw the one of the hillside abandoned?? village just outside Dalaman airport, could someone give me or tell me where to look for more info in this-- Thx

Is that Kayakoy, which is up the mountain from Fethiye. ?

No its right by the runway at Dalaman I wondered if it was something to do with when it was just a military airport, perhaps houses for the people who were stationed there. Anyone else got any clues?

it probably does have something to do with the military
around turkey there are military villages for the families of the high in command in the army and then have separate schools and hospitals to protect them

was that not cyprus? cyprus is divided whith turkey holding northern cyprus i think.

Kayakoy was inhabited by greeks and its about an hour from Dalaman

We visited Kayakoy when staying at Hisaronu a few years ago it is only 15 mins from there, it is definately worth a visit, very atmospheric also attended a Turkish Night there best we've ever been to (been to quite a few over the years) the greeks that lived there had to leave in a hurry and this is still evident at least it was when we visited . If you get the chance to go take it we would go back for another visit
