As this is mine and my friends Holiday alone without family, we arent so sure on the amount of tip to leave the waiters... could someone help us out?

just leave between 2 and 4 lira depending on the service and how good u feel the food is....

We've always used 10% of the bill as a guide. If the service is very good we give more. Last year though we counted how much we had given in tips and were quite surprised at the amount.

we calculate the amount depending on where it is and how well we know the people that work there
for example there are certain restaurants that we know the owners and workers very well so we tip there more

In the past I always left at least 10% but I will be honest it was getting too much, I now allocate 10 lira or 10% which ever is the lower amount. If I stop somewhere just for one drink I don't leave a tip.

We used to leave tips everywhere, even if we just needed the loo, we would go in to use the loo, buy a bottle of water and leave a tip. Until someone pointed out how much during the fortnight we were leaving, we were astonished.

We now only leave tips when we eat something, around 2-5 lira, and we only leave tips after drinks if we have had quite a few hours there and the service was good.
