Advanced Passenger Information (API)

08 Aug 2010 09:29

We are flying with Fly Thomas Cook, and our tickets arrived on Friday. Because you can only enter your API between 7 and 28 days before flying with them, I went onto the website last night to do so, but was unable to, as nowhere did it ask me to enter the details. Yet our friend who is also travelling with us, and booked somewhat later than we did, was able to add this information.

The website does state that if you are not asked for this information, do not be concerned, details will be taken at the airport, but I was under the impression that this information had to be entered online before going to the airport.

Has anyone else come across this? :? :? :?

Don't worry. I went away in May and forgot to enter my API. It was taken at the airport.

I'm flying out on Thursday, and I've only just this minute filled mine in as when I tried a week or so ago it was taking ages, so I decided to have another go today...no problems today also flying with captain hook. :D

At the risk of sounding stupid what is this - is it something that my tour operator (J2) should make me aware of?

If your operator wanted it you would have had an email I'd assume anyway. All it is really is filling in an online form giving passports numbers date of births gender etc. Call me daft but they will still have to look at the passport at the airport anyway so whats the point really, unless all blokes turn up in drag.

We had an e.mail from our operator in May, reminding us to do this.... but so far Captain Hook (who we have only booked our flights with) havent sent any reminders, and, as I said, our tickets arrived Thursday. Went onto the website last night to pre book our seats, and expected to be able to add the API, but there was no facility for us to do so.
Confused.com!!! :?

Thanks adewolves, but that is the link I have been going on, and it doesnt offer me the option to put in our API, although it did our friend.

Can only think they dont want our details as it says 'if you have been asked for it'

I think I will phone captain Hook tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry then, I know people on here have been asked for it and had a problem filling it in due to the website...but never had a problem at the airport, I actually started a topic on it when I had my email off thook

Well, I phoned captain hook today and they have said they have been having problems with the site where the API has to be entered ( still doesnt account for how we could add our friends :? ) and just to keep trying. If all else fails
we can do it at the airport.
