Car Hire??????

05 Jul 2006 00:58

Hi all,
Just wondering if hiring a car is a good idea.
We love to just be able to set off on an adventure, not knowing where we are going as long as we find our way back
Is Pammukale and Ephesus viable and safe via car or should we just book the " Tourist Trip "? Are the roads generally in good condition and well signposted? Bearing in mind we have driven in Bulgaria which must have the worst roads ever and sign posts in Cyrillic!!!
Also, what price petrol/diesel? Frequency of petrol stations?
We will probably take GPS, but failing that I can always do what a man will not........ask for directions!
Any info gratefully received,
Cheers,
Lisa.

Car Hire

Hi Lisa

I have hired a jeep each year we have been there (3) and have found driving to be ok when you get out of the main resort areas.
As with most european countries driving in the main town can be stressfull as its first to the junction has right of way.

We went up into the mountains last year and found most of the roads to be ok there are sign posts you just have to look out for them.

All the people we met were friendly even offering us drinks and giving the kids ice creams for free

if you get lost just ask most speak english and will gladly help you and put you on the right track.

Stay off the main roads and you will enjoy one of the most beautiful countries in the world

Enjoy.

we hired a car andwent to olu deniz, the only thing was the place we hired the car from said the tank was empty and were told by someone to fill it up, when we got backwe had half a tank of petrol left, you used to be able to take a car with a full tank and fill up when you get back but this must be the new way of doing it, so you dont get to use all your petrol so be prepared to just fill up as and when you need it otherwise it will be costly for you
