Is this the same company
ICR uses? my hubby and teenage son were thinking of doing this
What a terrible thing to happen i hope the comments that were made by the owners are not true as they are insensitive to say the least.

Totally horrible thing to happen but white water rafting is not for kids, whoever sold this trip knowing there was kids on it should be banged up.

As I don't know the company involved then I wouldn't know if we use them.
I should imagine that all agencies send people there and then a few specialist companies do the raft run.
Something like that has to be run by experienced people and can't be done by anyone otherwise there would be deaths all the time.
This is not a gentle bob down the river but a mad dash and white knuckle ride over rapids and wild freezing water.
We certainly would not let children book this through us and only people who are strong swimmers and fit and able should try this.

Sorry if anyone thinks I am being insensitive in saying this but surely the parents or whoever was with the children and taking care of them should have not have let them do this. It is not the thing for children and I would have thought everyone would know that. Really tragic.

Totally agree with the above, as bad as it sounds its reality.

This is so sad, another tragic death that could have been prevented! When is it going to sink in that safety regulations on these activities need to be seriously reviewed!? I was only 10 and my sister 9 the 1st time we went white water rafting and our ages were not questioned so our parents thought it fine. Back then there was only a lifejacket provided and a quick run through of what to do if you did end up in the water. Looking back white water rafting is not for kids, we were just lucky we had a good guide who ensured the raft never capsized. Deepest condolences to this poor girls family

I totally agree. I went on the rating trip in June. I would say that whilst it is great fun it is obviously dangerous and certainaly not for kids or even anyone that's not a confident swimmer. I ended up in the water at one point and even though I consider myself to be quite fit and a very strong swimmer I could not swim against the strength of the water.
I sometimes get the impression that some of the stallholders who are selling the trips are oblivious to any risk so long as they have their comission for a sale.

A couple of years ago we stayed in Hisonoru for a week and then
Icmeler for a week but whilst in Hisonoru we went on a jeep safari which took you to these waters but if you wanted to go on the rafting you paid whilst you were there. I did not let my children who where 14 and 6 at the time go on it even though my 14 year old daughter had done the jumping off the mountain thingy in Olu Deniz with a "Jack Black" lookalike strapped to her back and a parachute

I think the companies should take responsibility but when all is said and done your children are your responsibility and you make the decision. However this is a very tragic story and my condolences are with the family.
