That's terrible, very sad for the family. It is very unfortunate when you read about things like this can happen with faulty/frayed equipment as it could have been so easily prevented. It takes a tragedy like this before something is done to safeguard tourists. I sincerely hope that something is done and the owners are dealt with appropriately and prevented from operating and certain tests and standards should be enforced with equipment with sports such as this from now on.

This is so tragic, my thoughts go out to the family concerned.
This activity was on our to do list, after our visit to turkey last year it was something my hubby and son really wanted to do on this visit - needless to say they most definitly wont be doing it now. I can imagine lots of other tourists are making the same decision.

Just clicked on the Daily Mail link highlighted at the start of the topic which is now reporting the tragic death of a young girl in a rafting accident. So very sad and an unneccesary loss of life. My thoughts go out to the family. RIP.

Oh my my hubby n son were going to do this lets hope the comments by the owner are not true as they are insensitive to say the least
Is this the same place that is used by ICR?
30 Jul 2010 17:43
nope tired mum, it didn't happen in
Icmeler I think Side's near Antalya?
30 Jul 2010 17:48
HI tired mum, apologies, I was commenting on the parasailing accident and it doesn't appear on the above link anymore
Am guessing you're asking whether the rafting trip's the same one used by ICR? sorry, but I don't know - such a terrible shame for the poor girl's family

What an absolute tragedy for this poor family.
I heard,..and it is purely hearsay...that the poor man may have inadvertently unhooked the clasps by holding the harness in the wrong place.
It seems rather unlikely though...hopefully, any lessons to be learned from this will help to prevent further tragedies.
God Bless his family.
