My Delay At Dalaman

On our return to Dalaman after another fantastic holiday in Icmeler, we were dropped off outside the airport and the Q to go through the x-ray machine was nearly at the bottom of the ramp.
We got in line as we brits do while other nations pulled up at the front and forced their way into the line.
After being in line for about an hour we got through the scanners went to our check in desk and were informed on type written paper that our flight was delayed 4 hours.
We went into departures.
The waiting area was bedlam,with children crying and screaming, parents shouting, and 3 hooligans 14 year old playing football in the mens toilets.
Lack of seating ment people were sitting and even laying on the floor.
The shops were organised piracy,we saw many an argument flare up due to the overcharging and shortchanging customers.
The airline company allowed us a voucher per person of 8 euros to spend on food and drink.
I have no need to tell you what this would buy at Dalaman.
Our flight eventualy came up for us to board, cheers from everyone and we boarded the plane.
We were then held on the runway for a further 50 minutes till we had a flight slot.
We in the end set of with a delay of five and quarter hours.
Any first times and even seasoned travellers to Dalaman must think
"Is It Worth All This Hassle"
The new aiport cannot come quick enough, just hope they didnt have to knock down any antiquities in its construction.

Sorry to hear your tale - bet it won't stop you going again though, just make sure you stock up on more butties from Icmeler before you leave
We were delayed 26 hours last Sept and ended up in Dalyan for a night (well 6.00 am to 22.00), but that's a tale for another thread
Wouldn't hold my breath on the new airport being any better - am sure it's all a conspiracy to make sure we spend more before going home

Irony is Fanny, I always tell Ann to make plenty of sarnies just in case.
I also partley freeze two large bottles of water for the airport.
But Ann in her wisdom this time said we are not carrying two waters just take one and we wont need any sandwiches as we will get a free meal on the plane courtesy of Fly Jet, because on the way into Turkey everyone got a free breakfast but we had just eaten our cheese sarnies so missed out.
Needless to say when we heard about the delay I didnt half bend our Anns ear, wouldnt let it drop about how I am organised and shouldnt listen to other people dictating terms to me.
She had me on to her for five hours.
She wont leave the sarnies or water next time, because I am going to make them. (That will show her)

combination KFC and large coke was 18l with extra piece of cihcken was 23l. Can't remember anymore.

What is it about an ill wind blowing no good (maybe that's what caused the delay!!)
Sounds like Mrs G can put her feet up a bit on the last day from now on - she'll only have to remember to take the water out of the fridge

Fanny there is some things in this life that is solely the domain of the male species.
Freezing water to take down to the beach,or day trip out or the Dalaman run, can only be done by the most competent among us, and that is down to us men.
No one wants warm water, or even to forgetting to bring the water, so its horses for courses I will see to the water, Ann packs the bags, does the breakfasts,washes the pots makes the beds and cleans round then its on our way for the day out.
Without my cold water we would be lost.

here we have just returned from icmeler and have enjoyed the Midnight check in at dalaman if you have fillings in your teeth visit a dentist the scanners are so sensitve. but let us not complain if security was not tight we would complain.seats are in short supply,you will find some at the top of escalators,these do not work till you approach them, if you go up the down one then step off your partner in the the green top will go back down, you know who you are. the airport is not finished and i get the idea late checkouts good. did not try duty free i am not beckham and i have to work for my money . the staff try their best and the building will be beatiful when it is finished. dont approach the departure gate when the board says so add a half hour but visit turkey it is good value and the folks are fab
