bringing cuttings home

I have noticed in the last few years, that some hoilday makers are purchasing cutting/plants from the garden centre up by the old part of icmeler. My question is, is it legal to take them out of Dalman airport and enter UK airports.[quote][/quote]

My understanding is a BIG NO NO,
One of my friends got pulled at Dalaman last year with a Lemon fresh from a tree in Icmeler.

to be honest i dont think you would be allowed to take any of that through
i think the turkish authorities would see something like that at the first security screening just inside the front door and take it off you

I always bring bits home and there are no laws against importing them, just restrictions. I normally take a clear plastic bag and soak my seedlings or cuttings.

Please see charts below outlining rules, Turkey comes under EURO-MED

No probs, not sure why citrus plants and grape vines are a No No though, maybe someone knows?! but little plants and seedlings are no issue. Just remember the weather is different here and some plants need a very hot climate to fruit or flower.

Thanks Erik for the info, a real help. Has I said, last year a fellow holiday maker bought a small plant from the garden centre and I know the good lady would like, it was a climbing type of shuurb. So last question in case or hand ???.

I always take a plastic freezer bag, give the cuttings a really good wetting under the tap, put in bag and in a safe part of the case, i have taken a plastic takeaway container wth lid before which stops them getting crushed.
