Re: Help finding restaurants!

We go to Icmeler twice a year(llucky us) and one of our favourite places is Jimmy Okimos. You will find this restaurant if you stand in front of the Efes Hotel ( not the beach side) and look forward towards the canal. Jimmy's is on the corner and he gives everybody a very warm welcome. The menu is varied and the food is delicious and I know you won't be disappointed. We haven't had a bad meal yet in as many as 12 years or so!! Hope you enjoy Icmeler.

If you fancy a chinese one night, One the main Street Next to dry canal there is a great place called Peking. Staff are so nice and friendly and go out their way to make sure your meal is perfect (which is helpful as I am such a fussy eater! hehe)

been to icmeler many times :D and always go to the chef for a few meals and the love boat next door :D , the babadan hotel on the main street is always very nice you wait a little longer but everything is fresh, taj mahal was nice but looks to be demolished so not sure on that one   finally set steak house is great for sizzling platters.

i would definatley give the black sea a miss(think its called that opposite side to the taj upstairs above the turkish bath) we went last year sat on the balcony overlooking the town, saw the home made pizza get delivered from pizza tomato :? :? (who make a great pizza opposite babadan apps) then the home made profitta roles got delivered aswell, thought this was a bit cheeky :

If you want really REALLY good traditional Turkish food it has to be the KEREM.
If you get to the top of the canal where the taxi rank is, face towards the sea and walk down on the right hand side of the canal. The KEREM is on the right about a third of the way down before the 'newsagents / shop'.
After 13 years visiting Icmeler we only discovered this place last year and what a meal. Slightly expensive but worth every penny. You may have to book a day or so in advance because it is very busy.
The Florida is a safe bet, good food, set menues, and reasonably cheap. The Florida has been there for years and years and do a good cheap 'English brekkie'. The Florida is opposite the top of the canal. There is a good kebab shop along the road from the Florida just before the barbers.

Read the posts about the Kerem on the Special place for a birthday treat topic.
We used to love this restaurant but I am afraid we wont be visiting again.

The Selam gets my vote too - gorgeous food, lovely hosts and peaceful surroundings. Reasonably priced too - cheaper than places say on the Canal where you do have to pay that little bit extra.

I like to pop into the selam in the afternoon and relax with a cold efes, and a game of backgammon with the owner (I cant remember his name)

You really don't need help finding these places, just sniff the air and follow the gorgeous smell of food on a night :D

We found the Selem last October the day the owner was closing for the season. :(
He asked us if we wanted to take any books that were left and to come back next year.
We will definitely be going this October as we go at the beginning of the month. :)

We're also big fans of the Holiday - their menu is excellent value for money and the staff are very friendly and helpful without being at all pushy. Mehmet makes the best pancakes in Icmeler too! Will be popping in to see them all again at the end of May - can't wait!

Here are a few of my favourites:

Take a walk up to Ozzys - from the Tansas walk to the Azra jewellers (big vintage car normally parked outside) just before you get to Azra take the road on the right as if going to the old village (you will pass a fruit shop). Keep walking straight and after about 7 or 8 minutes you'll come to Ozzys, on the left - food is superb, reasonable and Ozzy is a very good host.

Lighthouse Restaurant - situated next to the ATM machines in the centre of resort (opposite side of road to Friends bar). Always good here. And the Magic Garden is located at the rear of the Lighthouse, lots will agree this is a great place to chill for a drink or 4.

Cupids - on the main central street - walk past Harry's steakhouse as if going to the beach, past the Mandalin Rest/hotel and you'll come to Cupids. Great here, especially the sizzling dishes and Turkish dishes.

Keep walking past Cupids when you reach the beach path turn left - Cafe Erdem - great for snacks, "cheap as chips" also great a quiet drink in the evening... and I have been reliably told it will be open as usual this season.

Happy sampling!!! :D

heres a couple we have tried over the the past seven years and would recomend..lemon tree which is on the the left hand side of the dry canal just before the geordie bar..also the moonlight thats situated on the same street that the red lion is on just about opposite...my directions are not to clever but if you get stuck ask any one they will point you in the right direction enjoy my friend :D :D

Been going to Icemeler and I would suggest the following

Majestic on the canal for Chinese and the entertainment - ask for Jan

Loveboat at the top of the canal to your left for a posh meal - ask for Serdan

Cafe Erdem on the front for lunch or an afternoon snack

Wayside - turn left at the Tansas and carry on walkingat the other end of the street on your left. Ask for Hamad

Set for a steak - at the crossroads where the dolamus drops offopposite the big bank and anlar jewellery - Ask for Barry

When do you go to Icemeler?
