With that blazing sunshine, a little rain would be more than welcome - probably

Hi Steve

We were told when we were there last month that we were supposed to have rain - never seen it yet! Instead it just seemed to get hotter and hotter.

We had rain twice last year, but that was the middle of July, twice in a row, late afternoon, we had massive thunder and lightening storms and then the rain was stoating down. That was the Sunday and Monday and then the early hours of the Tuesday, we felt the effect of that earthquake that hit just off of Greece. It was very intense.

But nothing but gorgeous sunshine and blistering heat this year, so I wouldn't read too much into the weather prediction, sumtimes, the rain is very welcomed in that heat though.

We have been for the past 2 Augusts and not experienced any rain even though it would be lovely. Last year we went to a different place before heading off to Icmeler and we were on a boat trip and the lady was English and she was saying that thunderstorms only occur in the height of the Summer if there is going to be an earthquake and she said the day before the earthquake last year the weather was really bizarre. Don't know how true that is. But I was watching a certain news channel with my cuppa at 6 this morning and they were saying that there is awful weather fronts over Greece and heading towards Turkey. Some of the Greek Islands have been missed but mainland Greece is going to be hit quite bad. I am sure it will be lovely and I wish I could be there this year to see a thunderstorm I bet it is fab. Enjoy it :D

I went July of this year and last year and I never seen rain. Infact, I was lucky if I saw a cloud last year.

We were there in May, sitting in the Bonjour one day we had a downpour the like of which I have never seen before, the square was like a lake, even the turks said they had never seen rain like it.

A little bit of rain on occasions is most welcome freshens the place up, clears the air and does not last for to long at least you know it is going to stop. In Icmeler you have a choice of singing and dancing in the rain or sitting and watching the world go by while having just one more efes.
