Re cycling

Postby skilly » 23 Sep 2008 17:36

When we are travelling from Dalaman to Icmeler we see many plastic water bottles littering the side of the road.
I asked a Turkish friend if they recycled as we do and he said no.
I don't know if thats true or if anyone can enlighten me but if they don't is there not a business opportunity there for some enterprising Turkish people as so many water bottles alone are discarded :?

Skilly
Ive said this for years and not just in Turkey most other Med countries are the same.
Get yourself a compactor, shredder ect on a bit of land.give the local kids a lira or two or whatever to collect and even put your own bins out, every month or so get a haulier with a container and ship to china
If I were younger I would be looking at costings and logistics
But too late for me !!

Thanks Diane , but I was thinking more of how we do it in UK i.e having collections for recyclable materials from each property. I am ashamed to say that I didn't re cycle anything when you had to take it to the bottle banks etc yourself  It was only when they gave us different containers for paper, plastics and glass that i did it, now i am a demon recycler :D
