Travelers Cheques

I'm off in August and I'm going to take a couple of hundred quid in lira cash and a couple of hundred sterling cash, and the rest in sterling travelers cheques. Now call me thick but when I get to Icmeler will I be able to exchange the sterling travs into liras or can I only exchange for sterling. Would I be charged commision as you are here when you by sterling travs. Any advice most welcome.

we cashed our travellers cheques in at the local supermarket for lira last week and did not pay any commision

the rate was 2.40ytl to the £ when we left on 30th May 2008, I believe the rate has gone down further since we got back. We did not pay any commision also, it was at the supermarket opposite the selen 2 where we changed ours, we compared with others round the resort and this was the best rate we could find, also as he got to know us he kept the rate the same even though it went down for a couple of days

only get enough cash over here to last for a day as the rate is always better over there
