Hi all.
It's been a few years since we where last in Icmeler, and i've noticed that the exchanged rate is fantastic since our last visit, think we got around 2.5L then to the pound.
So has prices in the resort risen along with the TL. or will our hard earned cash go that little bit further, would someone post average prices of beer & spirits in the bars and the rough price of lets say a nice steak & chips, thx all.
Will be back in September.

Prices have risen slightly, I would say, but there are still some great value set meals around. Average price for beer is around 7-8TL and local spirits 9TL,while a chicken or pasta set menu would be around 20-25 and steak probably 30-35.
If you eat out at some of the little Turkish places where the locals eat, you will get good food at really great value. For instance, we had a two-course set menu lunch (soup, followed by chicken cutlets, rice and salad) with soft drinks, for the equivalent of £6. That's not £6 each, by the way, but £6 for all three of us!

Bear in mind that the Turkish government increased taxes on alcohol earlier this year by 20%.

This pretty much offsets the favourable currency rate at the moment so drinks will in effect cost us the same as last year.

We should however see some benefit in meal prices and in the supermarkets.

That sounds fantastic blondie! Im even more determined to try the turkish places now even if it is just for lunch. Do you have mu h trouble understandind the menu and ordering? Im assuming the people working there would speak less english than staff working I the more tourist places? I can speak very basic turkish- hello goodbye thank you please how much where is etc but not enough to order and understand off a menu

Most of the little places do have their menus in English too and there's usually at least one member of staff who can speak reasonably good English (better than my Turkish, anyway). We have always managed ok with a combination of English, my very basic Turkish and hand gestures/pointing at what you would like...lol

Tesekkur erderim blondie lol well we'll give it a go. Can't afford not to at those prices, and it will be an experience if nothing else. Think I'll learn the turkish for chicken and a few other basic foods to help and also to play it safe lol. I like to try different cuisines but at the same time like to know what im eating
