Deniz Kapesi

Postby Norman » 18 May 2014 18:56

Hi all,
What has happened to this place, does it still exist? Had so many good times there. What happened to Tekin and his wife and children?

Yes, the Kapisi is still going strong - amazing Turkish breakfasts.

Had some good days and nights at deniz kapisi. Most if not all of the old staff have moved on to pastures new. Last year Tekin took over the Apollon bar next door to Chateau de Ville.

Norman Al Fayed is working in Romance Restaurant.
Tekin,I was told died last year.
Leon did open a bar,but it has since closed down it was called "Noels" but I havent seen him for a couple of years.
Deniz Kapisi was knocked down and has been re-built,it has terrific views from the new terrace,it gets very busy and does brilliant Turkish Breakfasts.
I cant help you with the Dave question from Baron Bar.
A new Marina has been built but all the shops and the lighthouse thingy got knocked down.

Hope to see you again in Icmeler Norman.

Gene,
Thank you so much for the swift reply, so sad to hear the news about Tekin, another post mentioned he had taken over another place. Who the hell is going to sing "In the year 2464" at Deniz now? Glad to hear that Ahmed is still there I have his old mobile number but it does not answer, maybe he has a new one. I know you are due there soon, if you happen to see him could you ask him if he could get in touch. He will definitely know us as Anne and Norman from the old days. Jan and Dave I mentioned originally ran Rockafellas, then Dave ran the fish and chip shop also worked at the 2 Sisters, Jan was working at the Baron by then and eventually they took over managing some apartments. Lost touch with them a while ago. From what I remember there was a link with Tekins family through marriage and a baby.
Hope you enjoy your time there and once again thanks for the help so far.

Anne and Norman

Hi Gene again,
Just remembered something else. I remember going to Noels to see Leon the last year we were there. He took it on after the Alvaro if I remember correctly he called it Noels because it was Leon spelt backwards!!
