White Water Rafting

Postby madazahatter » 03 Apr 2012 10:38

Can anyone tell me whether the white water rafting trip will be available from Icmeler this season. We went a couple of years ago and the tour guide said it would have to stop once the new dam had been built on the river.

It was posibly the best trip we've ever been on and would like to go again this year.

Last year rafting was not available for safety reasons and I think it will be same this year. If anybody does know where rafting is happening though please let us know.

Hi

We went rafting at Saklikent Gorge out of Kalkan. Don't know how far away that is from Icmeler though.
The rafts were actually old lorry tyre inner tubes and you just sat in them. We were gobsmacked when we first saw them, but the trip was absolutely fantastic. If a little sore the next day!lol

Thanks for your replies.

We went two years ago on the Dalaman River. I booked it with Kano rafting from the travel agent across from the waterfall restaurant. It was a superb day, the ride to the rafting site was worth the money alone but the tour guide showed us a massive hydro electric power dam that was being built further down the river and he said once it was finished it would put an end to the rafting in that area.

I know that shortly after we went a young girl unfortunately died whilst on the trip so maybe the trip was pulled for that reason.

Personally I had no problem with the safety provision, all the equipment and guides were up to scratch but I do accept that it is dangerous and certainaly not for the faint hearted.
