Hi can you please tell me where the best place is to buy handbags and what are the most popular designer brands on sale this season in icmeler and how much are they selling for.

I bought some lovely Chanel and Gucci bags in the shop next door to Firuze. I do the rounds of all the shops before I finally decide. I also bought a couple of Louis Vitton bags as well in the shop on the corner, on the right hand side after passing Harry's (I'm not very good at giving directions) but later found out I could have got them cheaper in the shop near the Blue Fox. Ah well, you live and learn :)

The only problem is that I'm now having requests to bring handbags back for other people, perhaps I'm going to have to put my clothes in a travel jacket (see viewtopic.php?f=19&t=14308) so there's room for all the handbags in my holdall

Hi Vikki,
The Blue Fox is in the row of shops where the Florida bar is. At the top of the canal, to the right of the Florida.

Near the handbag shop by the Blue Fox there's also a little shop that sells beautiful embroidered towels and sequined bath mats, so I've had requests for them as well. But when I said he'll also make curtains, tablecloths, cushions etc made-to-measure I had to say 'NO'. If they want these they'll have to go to Içmeler to get them themselves

I think I paid 60 Lira for a large quilted white one which has handles and a strap, 40 for a smaller cream one which is the larger sized classic flap bag with the chain strap and I had the Gucci bag thrown in. My daughter also bought an Ed Hardy bag and she was also given a pair of Burberry flip flops which are quite nice. I bought two Louis Vitton bags in different colours which are hand held bags and they also have a shoulder strap that can be attached. The bags were 120Lira each in the shop near Harry's but I had them for 85 Lira, but at the shop near the Blue Fox they were 100 Lira so I may have got a better bargain, who knows? but I did get a Chanel purse thrown in. The problem is choosing which to buy as there are so many nice ones. At this rate if I keep buying handbags I'm going to need another wardrobe to fit them in.

Now I think about it if I hadn't bought the handbags, embroidered towels etc I could have had another holiday. :( but the lovely jewellery that I bought at Firuze were definitely a good move as the price of gold is going through the roof.

I think, as with everything, its a case of pays your money takes your choice. The shops that sell handbags can be categorised by price ( and quality ).

There are many souveneir shops that sell bags from "top brand names" for 20GBP

Then there are next level up ( one opposite Sultans Jewellers) for 50GBP

Next level up is one down from the bank in the parade of shops you look down on,on the same side but up from ICR offices. for 70GBP

Then there is best in class - BGB leather in Marmaris ( on the seafront down from the bazzar) 100GBP - but you wont see any flaws, they had a Mulberry breifcase for 200GBP ( UK retail 1000GBP) that was perfect.

There is a difference in the bags. I bought a chanel bag cheaply a while back which had a chain strap that soon tarnished, so its not worth going for the cheaper ones. I'm very pleased with the ones I had this year and a few people have already thought that my white chanel bag is a 'genuine' one.

If you use a large bag whatever you want is always at the bottom. :( There are handbag organisers available on ebay that you just insert into your bag. If you want to change handbag just lift it out and put it into another handbag. Great idea with no messing around.

I always go to the chap who is now next to Florida - he used to be by the canal on the same side as Venice but round the corner a bit. I get a cracking deal from him and came back in July with 6 bags and lots of free purses! His Radleys are brilliant, lovely leather. I could have sold on a dozen of the Louis Vuitton one I brought back, everyone loves it, would have probably paid for another holiday too!
