Big boys on top

Postby south coast hero » 31 Jul 2011 20:41

We just got back after 2 weeks and i noticed the bigger restaurants were booming but some of the smaller ones were nearly empty. We went to Majestic and Romance most nights and they were full every time. Not sure about Venice or Dream Boys as we never went there.
Any one else notice this ?

We avoided Dream Boys, didn't like the rude hassle from them - it wasn't so busy. Didn't venture down the canal much at all but Venice seemed quite busy when we did go down there. One of our favourites last year and in May; The Unicorn, had sadly closed when we returned this month, such a shame to see the smaller places not doing so well. In contrast, Broadway Bar was busy on many nights we were there, which was good to see, but little Friends and big Friends both seemed very quiet.

Ooh meant to say - one of the previous "biggies" was very noticably quieter - Florida. I've been reading lots of poor reviews from this season for them, and we were told a few tales when we were out there. Seems that people really do read the internet when making their choices!

Noodles we ate in the Broadway once due to my son knowing Oure the doorman and to be honest the service and food was top notch. Also we were given fruit & a liqure as well as the usual pitta bread starter.
Within our group we had mixed ages with most wanting to see the waiter shows etc but Broadway is a certain for me next year.

Broadway is our base, wer're there most of the time! You will have probably seen us there. You can't miss my OH, he's got a tattoo on the side of his face, with another one on his head. Seems most of Icmeler knows him when we go! They're great in there, put the BBC on for us on a morning, put the cricket on in the evening, whatever you ask they will do, nothing is too much trouble :)

I am well gutted about the Unicorn, it was one of my favourites. Lovely couple, spotlessly clean and meals which didn't overface me.

It's at the top of the canal, directly opposite the Sports Bar
