Wheelchair user information

Postby Suede Apple » 04 Apr 2011 12:51

I am thinking of coming back to Icmeler for a week in May.
Can anyone give me any information about Marbas Hotel please?
Some reviews are bad but some are good - dont know what to think.
I am sure we have walked (in my case riden) past it in the past but cant recall it at all.
I have checked the location and I think I know where it is.
Just info like are there any steps up to the hotel - is it wheelchair friendly?

Thanx

Its right up the end of the beach near where the boats moor up, entrance up a hill where the dolmus turn round, but entrance to beach is down steps, main entrance ok for access but i think youd be better off in one of the hotels on the flat main beach.Rog.

Hi Suede Apple

Why not have a word with John. I'm sure he will be able to give you accurate information (as long as you book through ICR of course).

Hi Suede Apple

Often used beach in front of Marbas and ate in Liberty bar next door, cannot remember wheelchair access from beach to Marbas hotel, my husband being a wheelchair/mobility scooter user it is usually the sort of access we look for but cannot be sure.

I stayed there three years ago. As it was the end of the season they had closed most of the rooms (mid October) and put me in the room nearest reception - where I was kept awake by the noise of the staff watching tv (to be fair I'm not a late nighter but they refused to move me.) That said I later had a minor accident and, as the receptionist knew I was a woman on my own, she was amazingly helpful.

The room was very small and the shower leaked permanently. The food left a lot to be desired - I think it was a choice of two main courses at night - mostly lukewarm. Not worth the AI tag. Cleanliness ok.

The dolmus stops at the back of the hotel, almost at the door - very handy. It's a long walk to the canal and a horribly long walk to the market unless you're naturally fit.

Hope this helps!
