Virus??

Postby Jay Trip » 10 Nov 2011 15:56

Has anyone else had a virus threat popping up when logging into here?
I stupidly clicked on it at the weekend and now my PC is dead!
There is nothing at all on the disc and I cant even log on.
Thankfully my husband has a laptop so I am using his while he is out.
He will kill me if it happens to this one!

Yes I have had the same virus warning every morning for the last 4/5 days as soon as I log onto ICR forum.
As I am not a computer person & do not understand viruses I just cancel the warning & my laptop is still ok

I too have had the same warning but my security system sorts in and tells me is ok. It has been for a few days now but has stopped doing it for me today. Silly I know but thought it was just mine.

The system was checked 4 times in the last week. All files and folders and as far as Avast says its clean however it was Avast that was showing virus threats to begin with so we were puzzled as well.

Then, while surfing, we had run into many other sites which brought the same warnings. At this point, I think its to do with sensitivity levels of virus detectors. Based on my research, this is a usual and ongoing problem for all anti virus software providers. As you also put it, you get a virus warning one day and not the next or a warning on one pc and not on the other running the exact same virus shield.

At the end of the day, the system looks to be clean...If any further problems, please report to [email protected] with details of warnings you may receive and the page address you were trying to reach.

Thank you.

Notified JT last week and he assured me it wasn't ICR - I'm getting them too, everyday. OK, whats everyone running?

Norton 2012 and 360 both had problems with this site on quite a few occasions

Very strange indeed

I am running AVG2012 and not had a single pop up and I think I am here more than anyone.

I would second what Rami has stated

Just logged on at work and another block of the incognito toolkit - there's something not quite right JT.

Is the avg your using a paid version and does it stop malware?

The AVG I am using is a paid version. We have just done a full scan of all site files and its completely clean.

For further security, we have disabled all attachment sharing or posting and deleted all the old attachments.

Moving this subject to Technical area now as the problem could be with an outdated antivirus software package as well since not everyone get a warning and if the site had a virus, it would take google 24 hours to list it as unsecure and warn us so definitely something weird going on.

John G please check now and let me know if you still get a warning.

Thanks

Hi Rami,
Didn't get one this time round but did about 20 minutes ago.

I'm running new, and upto date, Norton Internet Security 2012 and Norton 360 and getting virus warning often when coming to this site since around 2 weeks ago when I notified JT.

Incognito Toolkit comes up but it has been others and its saying high risk.

Cheers John
