9 years on

Postby beegee » 22 Aug 2014 18:15

We will be going to Icmeler next week for the first time in 9 years. I have been a few times before and wanted to go back quite a few times since but the lengthy transfer time became a problem for my partner as time went on. But this year she has had a change of heart and we are staying at the Sea Star Hotel. Although it is all inc. we will still go out for meals and drinks fairly regular. The question is what has happened in Icmeler in the last 9 years ? What are the biggest changes ? I have heard the market is not there anymore, which is a shame. The last time we were there was at Club Tokmak and the market was literally at its back door ! What is that space now being used for ?

Same sort of situation for me as well beegee, its ten years since I was last there, so I'm going to be interested to see how things have changed too.

Have a great holiday :)

If the transfer time is a problem have a private transfer, it's much quicker.

The problem was the transfer time even with a private transfer. My partner prefers quick transfers, closer to the airport the better, that's why we went to Dalyan last time. The first time we went to Turkey we stayed at the Mares and it took 2.5 hrs on a coach transfer after all the Marmaris drop offs - never again !

Beegee,
We get private transfer from Dalaman Express, (ICR), there in 1.25hrs, they do a full price range to suit. Excellent speed and service, using again this year.
Enjoy Steve

Beegee, your 2 1/2 hour transfer was good compared to ours the last time we took the standard coach option. After 4 1/2 hours going round Marmaris time and time again, past the same hotels many times..we (and many others) were losing the will to live !! We thought of getting off and catching a dolmus at one stage. After that experience we said never again. Since then, we have always had a private transfer, just over 1 hour, no stops, straight to resort. It's well worth the £90 return fare.

Wish I was a 'rich pensioner' lol  ... Only kidding Mansy, we usually get the 'free' transfer via Coach and find it quite quick, this time we're going with the ICR transfer, so it'll be fine .... Never fancied a Private Taxi transfer, the way they drive I wouldn't even open my Eyes all the way to Icmeler! Lol :D

I know what you mean geordie1970, but our transfer is done by a trusted friend (who still drives like a nutter) :D

Lucky you, honestly I'd need to wear a 'Nappy' if I went via Taxi for that length of time!

We shared one with a German couple in July through Icmeler and my god!!! Never again!! .... They could sell that at any Theme Park for those who like the Rides (I never go on any) and they'd make a fortune!

You won't get a worse passenger than me. I haven't sat in the front seat of a car for over twenty years as I am so nervous. Don't know whether it's because we have a larger vehicle (as we have two wheelchairs) but our transfer with ICR was excellent and I didn't scream once lol. Even if I racked my brain trying to think of a criticism I wouldn't be able to find one. Excellent service :)

Lots of changes some of which are for the better. The prom is now much nicer, the new square looks great, opposite Friends bar. There is also a new square and fountain at the side of Tansas, which was built this year not sure if it is working as yet.

Lots of new apartments in the old village area now, new stalls down at the front at bottom of canal. The old canal stalls at canal have now gone. The underground market is open again.

Lots of new restaurants and some old favs still there

Eileens is no more closed about 2/3 years ago. Best fish and chips is in Harry Rams in the old village area. If you know where the Romance restaurant is just walk towards old village area and it is 400m on right
