We also have a caravan Colette. Hubby put it in storage last week you'd have thought you were cutting off his right arm. Must admit I'm not into camping the way he would be, I like my home comforts.
We have had some good times in the caravan and holidays when we couldn't afford to go abroad, but it's me who has the cooking, the cleaning up of the kids and their wet clothes to sort out when it is pouring down which believe me is about 90% of the time. I guess it just doesn't feel like a holiday when you have all that to deal with.
I started Xmas shopping last week Niamh is getting a pool table from Santa wants one like they have at The Alvaro, lets just say her's won't be quite that size.
Awww isnt it great when there are kids around and the belief in Santa is still strong. My 6 and a half year old Grandson is beginning to question it already!
Niamh brings us lots of pleasure I call her my little ray of sunshine. Mind you she is getting harder to handle as she gets older and there is not the same help out there for young adults/teenagers with Down's syndrome as there is for children. At least that is how it seems over here in Ireland.
I dont know how much help there is here in South Wales, but when I used to live in Nottingham I worked in a residential home in Derbyshire for young and older adults with Downs Syndrome and that was excellent. It was nice to have even just a weekend's break for the Parents. Some people used it more regularly than others, but it was a great centre.
My career has changed since then and I no longer work in that field, which was a very rewarding job.
I have done most of my Xmas shopping (thanks to the help of Icmeler we brought stuff back which has saved a few £££'s) so just a few bits to get thank goodness as the shops are already getting really busy!
