200 fags. 10 packets of baccy I think. My mother in law bought 1000 fags back last year from dalaman airport, loads of people were buying the boxes of 1000 fags.

We got stopped at customs for the first time ever coming back from Dalaman.Only had 2 litres vodka....one each and no fags as we dont smoke. He only asked us what we had and when we said he just said thats ok go through.Reason being he said lots of people returning from Turkey don't seem to be aware its non EEC and therefore very limited in what you can bring back.I did suggest they tell the airlines as there were massive discounts/promotions on fags on the plane, you could never legally bring that many back! Also at dalaman they will lie and say you can bring loads of fags and booze back to get you to spend. That was last year and we been going for years with no problems about being stopped.

My mother in law bought back the 1000 fags in hand luggage, nobody was being stopped when we got back. I agree about the airlines giving you all these offers.

The allowances are given on
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/arriving ... gnoneu.htm
The amount for gifts is quite low at £390 especially if you buy any jewellery and if you buy any single item worth more than your allowance, you must pay duty and/or tax on the full item value, not just the value above the allowance and you can't group individual allowances together. On saying that though we've never been stopped in the past and the one officer that's usually on duty hasn't even looked up to see anyone go past. :D
