Which Cheese

03 May 2013 13:32

We are back in "Heaven on Earth" in four weeks time. :D
This visit is self catering & would be grateful for anyone's knowledge on local cheeses.
In past years bought cheese in Tansas & to be honest it was tasteless.
So is there any cheese to be bought either loose or pre packed that resembles mature cheddar. :?

Thanks Jan & Denis.

The larger supermarkets are now selling "chedar" cheese that is not too bad but it is much dearer of course. Have to admit to slipping a chunk into the suitcase as I don't eat anything else.

I always take my own cheddar too. I got a lunchbox size coolbag for £2 in Asda and put in a frozen icepack with the cheese and butter and it was still well chilled when we got to apartment. :D

Thanks for your replies, but I assume that you are aware that it is illegal to take dairy products into Turkey.
I assume that you have never been stopped at the exit gates.

I've never seen anyone stopped on the way out of Dalaman, but it could happen of course. I'm still going to risk it though, as can't go two weeks without seriously strong cheese. :)

They do seem to be cracking down on people bringing stuff into the country, as people have been getting stopped at Dalaman, had their cases searched and items confiscated. Of course, at the end of the day, it's up to each person whether they want to take the risk or not...but you have been warned!

Why not stay at home and eat all the Cheddar you want!

I can not understand people who have to take the UK on holiday with them
