Really Laid Back Holiday Melita Apartments

Postby geovil » 22 Jun 2012 11:44

Holiday from 6th to 18th June
We break down our holiday journey into 3 parts the 1/ Journey to the Airport which was bang on time no delays not happy with the new drop off area having to get lifts up to the check in desks took 10mins to check in and 5mins to get thru security we were very happy with the new smoking area but we don’t think it will be there for long if people carry on abusing it,drinks are not allowed to be taken into the smoking area but the place was full of pint pots and wine glasses there are ash trays on all walls but I suppose it is easier to just drop them on the floor the place was just a disgrace sorry to say when they close it you will only have yourselves to blame.

2/The flight took off at 2.45pm on 6th June took 4 hours was brilliant we wanted to book luggage and seats together but found a package was just as cheap and got a meal thrown in for free so booked a package only drawback no entertainment on flight

3/ Transfer was waiting when we arrived very quick we were at the Melita in 90mins very uneventful except one of the staff broke a bottle of Bacardi helping us with our luggage

The Melita apartments, which are in a great location, the apartments themselves were quite basic kettle twin hotplate and a fridge very little in the way of utensils but we made do, pool was clean and plenty of sun beds but the apartments were not full didn’t use air conditioning as there was a balcony back and front so we just opened both doors to let the breeze blow thru it, would be needed now as the temperature is a lot hotter from 36 degrees when we arrived to 44 degrees when we left, tried a number of restaurants seeing that there are so many all I can mention are the ones we tried, which are The Wayside, Richards Place, The Havana bar ZaZa was is usual self he as moved just down the road from where he was across the road from the Istanbul and 3 Bells, Jimmy Okimos, Champions, Tin Tins, and Captain Bullshits the service and hospitality second to none our favourite though was Captain Bullshits, did notice there was not as much entertainment as the last time we were there 4 years ago but that could have been because of the football, the best value for drinks we found was Tin Tins, beaches are still as nice as ever we used the sun beds at the liberty restaurant bar as they were on a jetty free if you have drinks or a snack and very laid back, the exchange rate was quite good the first week we were getting 2.84 but then it dropped to 2.78 just before we left it was back up to 2.82, didn’t do any trips this time just a really relaxing holiday,The Square and fountains are brilliant got many photo’s, thanks to ICR for there help and to Ian and Sarah a really lovely couple we met hope you read this, can’t think of anything else to say, Oh there was a burglary at a bottom floor apartment a couple left there door open for one of there party and an opportunist thief walked in and helped themselves to money and a phone we all thought it was one of the guests so keep your doors locked This as Probably been said a load of times but if you need any food or drink for the airport buy it in the resort DON’T BUY ANYTHING AT THE AIRPORT IT IS A TOTAL RIPOFF 2 cans coke £7 Efes with a bag of chips £10 we will be coming back.
