Just back from 2 weeks in Icmeler

Postby Joan_Woodall » 04 Oct 2011 13:02

Just got back from another brilliant 2 weeks in Icmeler.

We stayed at Efem Apartments in the Old Village where we have stayed several times before. They put a new water slide in last year and we have found that it has now got a lot noisier as it is drawing families and is more suited to them now than couples which is a real shame as it is in a lovely setting overlooking the mountains in a quiet position, but lying round the pool now is not as relaxing an experience like it used to be. We stayed at Efem in June and it was quite noisy then but we thought by the middle of September it would be quiet, but it wasn't. Can't understand how so many children of school age from the U.K. aren't in school!

Went to have a look at Senem Apartments just round the corner from Efem and they looked nice. Also seriously considering Oren Apart (next to Kleopatra) up near the entrance to the market. They are lovely and clean and the pool area is lovely and quiet (at least it was when we were there). Also heard excellent reviews about the Rhodes Apartments.

The weather was brilliant, apart from one horrendous storm the first week and a couple of hours rain the following day, but apart from that, wall to wall sunshine - extremely hot (36 degrees) for the end of September - brilliant.

Visited many old friends around the resort and enjoyed an "Efes or two" with them. Went in the Tandori Sizzler for a 3 lira pint of Efes - brilliant value. Found that Tin Tins also does it for 3 lira. (if you don't know where that is, stand with your back to what was Efes Inn (Now Munamar Beach) walk straight ahead, past Jimmy's on the right hand side and just follow the road round to the right (opposite the pizza outlet).

Talking of Efes Inn, we heard it has now been taken over by The Munamar and is all inclusive. It is such a shame it has changed hands, we had many a happy stay at Efes Inn and that is how we know most of the people in Icmeler as they were the staff there. it was like a family - in fact half the people we met eating around the resort have stayed at Efes at one time or another.

Met ChrisB who was also staying at Efem (what a small world). He said he would put a report on when he gets home.

All in all, a very relaxing 14 days with lovely food, excellent company and brilliant weather - what more coud you ask for?
