kapmar hotel review - july

Postby maggie may » 05 Aug 2010 12:42

hi, this is my first ever review, so here goes.

transfers and pickup to manchester airport were fine, flew on time and arrived at dalyman airport at 1:10. very, very hot! got transfered to icmeler and arrived at the kapmar hotel, paid for air conditioning (£56 a week for 2 rooms) and 1 safe (£28 for 2 weeks). First impressions were very good - rooms were cleaned everyday, great position in the heart of icmeler, ideal for bars and resturaunts, plenty of sunloungers, large swimming pool, and free pool table. despite all of these positives there were a couple of negatives. Firstly, food and drink was not allowed to be brought in from outside - this included basic essentials such as water. A litre bottle of water at the hotel cost 4TL but at one of the local supermarkets, you could by frozen water for 0.5 TL. Secondly, breakfasts at the hotel took a turn for the worst in the second week. Butter for breakfast was rancid for our final 5 days, and other items such as yogurt were also starting to turn. All the staff seemed to do was put fresh butter on top with ice and that is no good seeing as all the breakfast is left out from 7:00 till 10:00. There was one pushy waiter - beware! Besides these problems the hotel was very good. places we ate which were very good were - erdems cafe by the beach, good value and plenty to eat. Champion bar(which we discovered 3 years ago) is still very good. The buffalo bar opposite the champion was good for a pint - 2TL. Alins near the tansas, was also very good value for money. Didn't really enjoy friends resturaunt. went to marmaris one day where it reached the hottest temperature on our holidays 45 degrees. still very busy, good day trip but not as good as icmeler as a holiday resort. Went on a lazy day boat trip. good thing about the holiday we made new friends - all of them scousers. Karen and andi poole and family, Mac and karen, lynn and family, mike and vicky, and kevin and pauline. All of them made the holiday something to remember. A big thanks to michelle and the rest at ICR for helping my wife get her purse pack which she had left on the plane. If it hadn't have been for them we wouldn't have got it back. Missed john toohey, maybe see him again next time. All in all, had a great holiday, ate too much drank too much efes. will be coming back soon, thanks
