Akyaka Trip

We booked to go to Ephesus and Pamukkkale Thursday and Friday.
Got up at five to get ready for the 6:15 pickup but nobody turned up.

Mixed blessing really, may have been a little too hot for us.

Decided last minute to book the Akyaka tour for friday.

Glad we did as the family had a lovely time. You will need sunglasses for the jeep as it got quite windy going over the hills.

A lovely relaxed day without any hastle at all and a great chance to see the Turkish countryside and some of it's wildlife.

The boat trip up the Azmak stream was great the water was so clear, also a chance to have a dip in the very cold water.

Rachel was a great host and did all she could so everyone had an enjoyable day and she is also a fellow welsh speaker. something you don't expect on a trip in Turkey.

Unfortunately my camera skills weren't good enough to catch any of the many hundreds of different coloured dragonflies

We're from Llanelli. Have found that by speaking welsh you can avoid any hassle from any restaurant or hairdresser as usually they give up as they don't know what you're saying and so move on to the next person so they don't waste time. Must say though that we've only had to do this at the few places that are persistent.

Most though are interested that we come from 'Galer' and often try to learn a few words. The first time we went to Icmeler though, one morning we passed a restaurant and a waiter called out 'Bore da.' He'd heard us talking as we'd passed the night before, we were quite surprised as we didn't expect to hear any welsh especially from a Turkish person. Being a welsh speaker makes it easier to learn Turkish as we use many of the same sounds :)

Ni'n byw rhwng Gaerfyrddin a Llanelli. Gyda'r enw 'benevis' o ni'n meddwl bydde ti'n dod o'r Alban.

Translation: We live between Carmarthen and Llanelli. With the name 'benevis' I thought you would have been from Scotland :)
