We always take enough Lira for the first day then the rest in sterling as the rate has always been better in the resort than UK exchange outlets.

just take enough lira to get you through your first day
and take the rest in english money and change it while you are over there as you will get a much better rate there than you would get here
hope this helps

We tend to take a mixture of alittle lira to get us going ,english and also we take some in travellers cheques[really as a safety precaution]and if we dont use the cheques we just keep them till the next time.

We only take enough to last us for the first day then change it as and when you need it . We have just got back from icmeler and the rate was 2.30 but when you are going to buy anything in the shops or market pay in english as most things were whatever for £10 or 25lira so you get a better deal by paying in english . I always carry both in my purse just incase.
